    Toyota says that the Tacoma frame is not repairable by traditional methods (frame bench), which isn't true, but because the manufacturer says that, the insurance company will not normally authorize frame repairs.

    Mine was in an accident going 10mph and it was totalled cause of that frame part being bent, but I hear ya.

    Usually the issue is with getting a frame, not the actual replacement.

    And most do not realize how quick and easy it is. As the truck is so new I would shocked if it a write off. If it is, it's very likely due to parts being back-ordered.

    My father in law has a body shop and they do frame replacements all the time. Only reason they're writing a bunch off in the last couple years is due to the availability of parts. Insurance companies are not paying 12 months+ for people to be in a rental vehicle.

    Got rear ended in mine on Sunday.
    Frame’s bent in at least 2 spots that I could see.

    I’m waiting on finding out what the repair estimate will be/if insurance is going to write it off.

    The driver that hit me was probably going around 50kph.

    Note the way that part of the frame is folded into itself…

    I could see why being in-between the leaf pack bracket and the hitch. It's gonna fold where it's just bare frame.

    Did you actually do the search? See on the side bar on Copart in search... it says "Rear End Damage?".. Hit that and tell me how many INTACT cabs you see with damaged rear ends? Why are those there? By your logic they were repaired and given back to the owner... and yet here they are. Why are so many of these valued at $40k+... and yet here they are on Copart! Even with airbags completely intact! I thought the cost of the repairs are about $25k? How come all of these are just sitting around? Especially since their value is over the $25k repair? Am i talking out of my ass? Or maybe, just maybe i know what i'm talking about? Lightest hit on the planet, no air bags deployed, $50k+ value. All these intact cabs. All these intact airbags. I mean c'mon look at this one. Your logic starts falling apart quick. What's that? You want more more? Sure thing! Here you go! - > (1) (2) (3) (4) (5) (6) (7) (8) (9) (10)

    There is 32 examples. That was just 15 minutes of looking. By definition, i'd call that a plethora but i'm not an expert right? What do i know? ;)

    Yes and I actually looked past "rear end damage" You do realize that just because it says "rear end damage" that there might be more to it? Actually some of those that were classified actually looked like side impact. I realize that you are not an expert, so maybe you can chalk this up to a learning experience that you now know that just because there is frame damage, that doesn't mean that it is totaled. In case you haven't read a single post on here because you think you know already that there is a supply shortage. In some cases a truck may be repairable, but parts are not available. That doesn't mean that a truck would be automatically totaled. They will make every effort to get the parts.

    Too many trucks and mods to list.. check builds
    We replaced a frame in an 2020 that had worse damage to front. So potentially they may fix it


    The frame took 8 months to show up
    Truck then went to the body shop for a new apron, core support, bumper fender, and firewall

    Hey Bud,

    Something interesting that I did find interesting was that plethora of Tacomas with front end damage. I'm guessing 75% of vehicles in my search fit that category. That is seaching 2021 and up. Either the folk that buy these truck can't drive (assuming that it is driver fault for most front end collisions) or these trucks are expensive to repair front end damage. It would make sense because most of the truck is up front. Getting rear ended probably is a new bed, bumper, and a frame. That is a lot less than fenders, doors, hood, grill, etc.

    Did the truck drive the same after the frame replacement? Any issues to look for?
    Do you know how long it took to swap frames?
    Did the Dealer replace the frame then send it to the bodyshop?
