Congrats on your upcoming retirement Bryan, keep in touch with your good friends from work and don’t look back at the rest and just enjoy retirement!

A bit of a surprise how many geeks are here haha! Definitely some of you outgeek me. We used punch cards for fortran programming back in college circa 1975, we would program, then the data would be sent in a batch overnight to an IBM (I think) computer in Raleigh and we would get our results printed out the next morning. And if you had an error, correct the card(s) and repeat the cycle.
I started out with a slide rule, graduated to calculators as they became affordable and finally allowed for class (I had a genuine Casio if I remember right, HP calculators were out but beyond my budget).
Bought an Atari 400 and later a 600, learned some Basic programming.

These days computers are a tool and no programming for me. Well I’m not counting control systems programming here but that’s a different world, I have done configuration of digital control devices and knowledgeable of some digital control system graphical programming and have had training. Nuclear plants were slow to go to digital control systems and I’m proud to have helped move some of them to the modern era.

    More memories!

When I was hired by that major defense contractor in 1976 the largest PROM was a SIGNETICS 32x8 which you programmed with a little box (with lights) on your work bench. When INTEL came out with the EPROM I attended a seminar in Dallas where their sales guy explained how it worked. Interesting. More interesting, while erasing them with the UV light contraption, a software weenie came up and ask how that worked. I said "just look in that little window and you'll see". He stood there for 10-15 minutes staring at it. I died laughing on the other side of the room.

Don't take this wrong, but at first they may miss you, but you'll be quickly forgotten.
Seen it many times in my workplace.
    Congrats and enjoy your retirement.
I'm not that far behind. This Spring for me.
I'll be in my 40th year.
Most of the guys I've worked with are either dead or retired with only a few "old timers" left.

One guy I worked with retired about 25 years ago.
The boss asked him if he wanted a party.

He said "no, they didn't have a party when when I was hired, so I don't need one when I leave."

For the firearms folks here, I won this custom Folds of Honor Auto Ordnance M1911A1 - one of only 4 made - at the recent Woodloch Springs Folds of Honor Golf Classic. Folds of Honor provides scholarships to the spouses and children of fallen or disabled military members. Locally, John Pillar, at Woodloch, has raised over $300,000 for local families in partnership with FofH - and this pistol garnered over $10k. The pistol was donated by VETSTOCK in support of its mission of Empowering, Enriching and Improving the lives of veterans. Honor Their Sacrifice. Educate Their Legacy.

    Afternoon all:

Welcome seaturtle, fill up the cooler and join us on the porch!

Congrats on the nice win Mark, are you going to shoot it at all or do those Commemoratives appreciate that much in value to justify leaving it unfired, 1 in 4 is a really low production #.

Great win Mark. Fine looking 1911. Nice conversation piece. Are you going to put some rounds through it or keep it a virgin?
    Either way, it's a nice prize.:D

Honey Bees found the grape jelly.
All season, it's been cat birds and resident orioles chowing down.
    Bees took over today...

I know well of The Folds Of Honor a truly great organization. And that gun is something that should be handed down to future generations to honor and appreciate. Very nice Mark.
