Truck seems to drive the same after collision damage. My biggest concern is the truck safe to drive.
I dont know how fast they were going when they ran into me but I wasn't hurt in the collision.
If I get hit again , with no bumper and rear of frame collapsed , the truck won't absorb any
    more impact. I will.

In order for us to get the big picture we are going need more info.

Are the bed sides buckled? Is the gate damaged or was it a direct shot to the bumper/hitch?

A frame for a Tacoma is like $7500 plus 33-36 hours to install then factor in the shop labor rate. Your looking at around $13-15k if the shop labor rate is $150hr.

Frames and Airbags are not the end all anymore.

I'll give you a personal related story from California.

You need 80% of the current value to be considered a total loss. I also had frame damage near the same area you have, and at the time, I had about 10K - 12K miles on the odometer. I also had a TRD OR 4x4 6MT, which needed damages to exceed $26K to be a total loss. This is a blessing or a burden depending on how you look at it. My estimate came out to just under $24K

The rule for the frame was either a new frame, which at the time could take 3 - 6 months to get one from a donor, but there were strict rules around that. It had to be the same year or newer, equal mileage or less, and the same model and trim. After a couple of months, a donor was found. A Tacoma with the same trim level with 900 miles was vandalized in the Bay Area, where the wheels were stolen and put on blocks, windows broken, and airbags were removed. That was towed down, stripped, and I got that frame. Ultimately, I just got parts replaced. No body or paint work was needed, so other than the time without the truck, I was indifferent about the whole "it'll never drive the same again" crap.

This was pre-pandemic for me, but considering how many more Tacomas are out there since 2018 and the value is higher, hopefully won't take long to get a replacement.

no, you don't. an insurance company can total a car if it makes sense to them to do so.

    hope this helps.

Too many trucks and mods to list.. check builds
I never got to see finish product. We swapped the frame, took 2 days once it came in, body shop took it from there

I have totaled thousands of cars working for an insurance company and there are state specific guidelines the insurance commissioner publishes for the state. Each state is different with thresholds, tax and salvage.

yes, me too. there are thresholds... but we're talking the other direction. i've totaled a car in texas (100% threshold) at 50% due to it being a brand new vehicle at the time with no afm availability (they didn't have an oem endorsement), salvage value was sky high and the fact it was going to be a 45+ day repair, customer was going with one of our shops so we were going to be on the hook for that rental.

so yes, if they go over the state's threshold, yeah, it's gonna be considered a TL. but his bent frame could be well under whatever his state and still get TL'd.

I dont think its totaled. From what I can see is frame damage, rear bumper, trailer hitch, pdc sensors, tailgate and the bed is cracked. Sides of bed look ok and no cab impact.

    Yea

I agree with that. It always comes down to the state. In PA its ACV-Salvage+tax. So if a Tacoma is worth 45k and salvage is 50% and tax is 6% you need around 23k to total it.

I have seen some cars that I look at and think “I wouldn't want that car back” and total it within the guidelines I have to follow. Most people know there car is totaled before it even gets to me so it makes it easier.

OP if you get an estimate I would love to see what they wrote for your truck.
