See 4 lights now, Hella 4000 and Kragen HID together!

Originally, Josh (of Stewart's Raceworks, Santee, CA) made my '05 Tacoma a custom light bar for my two HID lights... they cracked (the plastic housing) after on Baja trip with lots of washboard roads.

Josh repaired them with fiberglass, but then I got a pair of Hella 4000 metal lamps (100 watt pencil beams) and installed them on my bar... The '05 Tacoma was changed to the '10, and the light bar was moved onto the new truck... The place the bar mounted had changed slightly and it wiggled a lot...

Today, Josh modified the mounting location to stop the shaking and changed the two tabs to four... then did a great job with the wires and new light switches.







Stewart's raceworks is where Baja and desert racers get built, modified, repaired and made ready... Custom 'luxury' 4WD pre-runners like the Ford Raptor truck seen on You Tube are also made there!













Okay, back to my Tacoma and the modified light bar!







Easy to notice the difference in ligh color between the halogen (yellow-white ~3000ºK) and the HID (blue-white ~5,000ºK)








The blue switch is the HIDs and the red is the Halogens.

The 3 photos sure show how much more light the HIDs put out from the stock high beams... then add the Hella 4000 pencils to throw a beam way down the road.

That was last night after I got home from Raceworks... I will do more photos when I get out somewhere away from the city!

 

those switches are pretty tight.
do you have a link to where you got them?

 

We just went to the Radio Shack in Santee and pulled them out of a drawer... They had red, blue, green and black illuminated switches.

I asked Josh to make the HIDs work with the blue one (since there is a blue hint to the HID lights)... and the Hellas come on with the red one (the Hellas get hot, hell is hot, red is a hot color).

Of course on a night run, I will need to lead! LOL

 

I am making plans to convert the two Hella 100 watt halogens to HID. Can anyone with a good color eye tell me what temp. color the Kragen HIDs are? I am guessing the Kragens are somewhere between the 4,300ºK and 5,000ºK color (hint of blue)?

dang im putting 5 kragens on my truck with 3 kc daylighters, that is going to be crazy!

 

I have the option of 4,300ºK or 5,000ºK HID bulbs for the Hella 4000s... I know 4,300 is the BRIGHTEST/ MOST WHITE color, but I may want the pencils and Euro beams to be the same color for max. effect... Since the Kragen Euros have a slight blue color, I was wondering if it was 5,000ºK.
