Washing soda. Use it, you'll love it, except for all the white residue everywhere. But it's cheap, easily available, prevents rust and I guess algae and bacteria as I've never had issues with either. Another nice thing is if the water evaporates it leaves behind the powder not any sludge like a lot of coolants/additives.

Instantly became one of my favorite Tacomas on here, beautiful truck. Unique and clean. Keep posting.
I’m excited for you, how’d you locate a 1st generation supercharger in decent shape if you don’t mind me asking? Craigslist? Last one I saw had broken housing and Superchargersonline advised me not to buy it when I sent pics. They don’t show up often.

I'm getting a sort of knocking/popping noise when I start up, shut down, and sometimes drive the truck (especially coasting in neutral). It sort of sounds like when you don't slam the door all the way shut and it sort of pops around on the striker, but I have confirmed it isn't that and it sounds like it is coming from around the passenger floorboard area. I have also noticed that if I am sitting parked and I slap the shifter all the way to the right (probably not super good for it, I know) I get one distinct pop/clunk out of it the same as the others. I am thinking motor/transmission mounts, but is there anything else anybody could think of? The engine does bounce toward the passenger side on startup, I'm pretty confident I just need to go around all my mounts but was curious if anybody else had gotten a noise like this and what it was.

Sorry didn't take install pics. Fairly simple to install. Ran both light pigtails through existing holes from bed thru left & right tail light voids (pull them) to point near back of hitch, tywraped to existing wiring harness for route. Ran switch pigtail from drivers side same path to back of hitch. Added short sections of wire from hot & ground pigtal (attached to switch section) and solder spliced in at hot & ground on trailer light receptacle. Plugged all of it up there, taped all connections coiled up excess, taped up good and tywrapped to wiring harness. For bed I sandpapered the back of switch a bit and used 3M double sided auto tape to attach it to under inside of bed rail on drivers side. Used Scotch brite a little along under rail, wiped down with alcohol then stuck light tapes just under rails. Will see how they do over time but seemed to stick very well. No wiring exposed. Can flip running lights on without key in ignition and get power to button switch back there. Figured with my luck I'd forget to turn lights off on a deer hunting trip or such and if straight wired to battery would someday come back to a dead battery. Wired this way it should be good and hard to forget. All I needed besides what came with lights is a couple runs of wire about 22 gauge about 4' long at most, electrical tape, tywraps (20?), 2" of double sided 3m tape, solder and iron. Hope that helps.

Nope. Cleaned everything up and shoved a rag to see a general area.

Looks like the mystery liquid is actually coolant.

Hmm, well your thermostat housing and lower radiator hose are right above there.

Doesn't appear to be from the lower hose. More from the block. Can you show me on this other motor where the potential culprits could be?

Been raining daily in SC took the opportunity to do a few small things before taking a drive to Charlotte. Cleaned the inside and replaced a door check that was broken, only lost 1 clip while taking the door off which is a solid win. Also found a nice solution to the door sills that are just no longer attached to anything, a license plate plastic nut 1/4" fits in pretty nicely. Mind the pile of grease... it was making noise right after install.

    Hmm
It appears to be coming from behind the thermostat housing. But I also found coolant on top of the right block behind the valve covers under the lower plenum. Unmistakably red and crusty, photo for location but I cleaned up most of it.

    UPDATE:
Ok... so looks like it's coming from behind the thermostat housing?!

What is and how?! Or is there something above that?!

    Its your oil dip stick.

That crusty looking thing dead center just pops out of the oil pan. I've had mine get real loose and spin most my oil after doing the supercharger. Undo the bolt that holes the tub up by the alternator and give it a good push down again. Or the seal on it is going bad.

Stuff leaks from the top down and can be deceiving in where it collects and puddles.
Go to a car wash and blast it clean, then keep on eye on it until you see where it's coming from.

If it’s behind the thermostat housing, it’s coming from the waterpump. As Monte pointed out, your dipstick is pretty crusty, might want to clean that up anyway.

The coolant in the block valley under your intake plenum is from the cross over coolant pipe under there, very common leak point.

Got them from Ace... think they were the GM 1/4" ones. They needed a little juice to push them in but they'll pop right in
