    All of them.
Go 35s and 5.29s. You'll be blown away at how much power you can get to the ground with those big tires when u gear the truck properly

Once I found out the TRD intakes still reuse the bottom part of the intake box, I decided to just go with the K&N 57-9039 JR Intake Kit (tube and filter) and the TRD Intake Flow Accelerator. Much cheaper and looks better and I can't imagine it would perform any worse since it gets rid of the baffle and accordion tubes. (It's also Carb certified if that matters to you)

The truck feels better with this combo than it did with a fully stock setup. Smoother during accel and shifting. Can't tell if it's more powerful since I don't drive the truck hard, but that's not why I got it. But all in all the truck feels lighter. No ragerts.

    Longer post/review on it here.

When you changed out the stock intake tube with its resonator box did it change the sound when you kicked it?
Looks good!! Where did you get the hood struts?

If not mentioned you can buy all the parts and get the intake cheaper. Sans air filter I got it all for about 240 on my 2nd gen. Airbox on 3rd gen is basically the same so you dont need the lower part only top part i recall.

I covered that in the link I posted to my build thread.. but it's pretty much inaudible until around 4k rpm and then it absolutely screams, which is just about perfect IMO. Not annoying during DD but you will know you changed something when you punch it.

Can anyone explain to me how the engine sound changes when a different intake is installed and also provide a physics based explanation for why it changes the sound? How do you hear the sound of your intake over the top of all the other noise the engine makes? It’s not making any sense to me.

good question. You wont really hear it unless you are hitting that skinny pedal hard. It then sucks a ton of air through, and there are no resonators to keep the sound down. The stock ones have resonators and things to keep it more mellow and aftermarket they get rid of it to allow a free flow which also makes it louder

    My interpretation of it anyway.

A quick google search on air intake resonator leads me to suspect that your assumptions might be wrong. It appears that resonators are used to increase performance similar to how tuned exhaust helps increase performance.

It says right in your link one of the reasons is for sound reduction.

I might have understood you. I thought you were saying they removed the resonators to improve performance. Why would an aftermarket performance cold air intake have no resonators?

I know that when you go from a stock one they have built-in chambers to limit sound these are no longer there in an aftermarket setup.

"The air intake resonator ensures that your car’s engine still works at capacity. It gives those pressure waves a place to expand and partially dissipate, resulting in a quieter, but significantly more powerful, engine. "

The more powerful part is likely the debate on is an aftermarket intake worth it or not.

sounds like its more then just to keep to keep it quiet and I seem to have the basic assumption they are saying.

Thank you, and yes it changed the sound around 3 to 4k rpm but since the latest Pro tune it sounds better in the lower RPMs now. The tune really makes the exhaust and intake sound even better. You don't even need to try and go wot to get the sound. The hood struts are Spikers with TRD stickers, but I have since removed the stickers and made them a little smaller and not as bold looking. I will take a pic later.

I picked up my CAI and TRD exhaust for about $750 total.

Save your money cai isn’t worth it unless your just going for looks. I hear if you install gas hood struts it increases engine performance by 2%

On eBay. Just search "Devilman JDM Decal" and you will find them. There is a seller that offers it in multiple colors and sizes.
