apparently the shop I took my truck to for a high idle problem says this part is the culprit but even the dealers say it's obsolete.

and just FYI, I had the throttle body re-bored and that fixed the high idle for a couple months and then the issue crept back again. sometimes the throttle seems like it's sticking and gets stuck in a high rpm.

    things I've done/replaced:
    cleaned MAF
    new TPS
    TB rebore
    checked for air leaks
    tried a new IAC
    new thermostat
    new wires
    new coil packs

all that said, I just need the name to know where to find a new one of these. it's cracked and needs replacing regardless if it's the problem or not.

I've always called those things a "dashpot" even back to carburetor days. Looking at my info now, I'll get back to you.

Looking at this picture, is it the "throttle opener"?

thanks for the response. I assumed the dashpot was the metal conical thing on the opposite side of the TB connected to a small vacuum line. guess not.
