Had an accident and needed to remove my engine to fix the frame. Put the engine back on after the repair and not it starts but does not run. Engine cranks over and runs for about 2 seconds and then gives out. Engine sounds good, but just turns off. I replaced trans fluid & filter, MAF sensor, motor oil, cleaned out the throttle body, replaced all coils and plugs. Even reset the ECU by jumping OBDII pins 4 & 13 for 30 minutes.

Before I did all of this I captured read codes.P0351 thru P0356- ECU ignition coil primary/secondary on all coils.

After all the maintenance I mentioned above, I erased all codes and attempted to start the car and only those codes came back. I am wondering if something is not plugged in or what is not grounded right. Any thoughts? If I cant figure it out, I guess Im going to take it to a toyota dealer and have them diagnose it. Maybe they can figure it out for me.

Also, the air bag went off and I am currently replacing it. I don't think that has anything to do with it not turning over.

    Thanks for your help!!!!

It’s probably not the fuel pump resistor since you have the codes.
But a bad or unplugged resistor will do what you describe.
The resistor is bypassed on start up, and then shortly after starting like 2 second, it switches back through the resistor.

Again, I doubt that’s is the problem since you have codes.
Those codes are for ignition conformation. Your truck isn’t report ignition has occurred. And that is probably what is causing the engine to shut off.

It is located in front of the battery.
    Looks like this

That’s what it does when you disconnect the battery and then reconnect it, it shuts off immediately upon start up as the computer resets. Is there some reason that the truck thinks the battery is constantly being disconnected?

I’ve seen numerous people say this, but my truck has never done that.

Mine always starts and stays running after the battery is disconnected. About the only thing it does is maybe shift different for a few miles.

I checked the resistor and bypassed it but it continued to stop. Funny question on removing the battery!! When it was getting worked on, the battery was bad and since then I have a new battery put on but I have been removing the ground. I guess I will just leave the battery hooked up and try it again in a day or so. Maybe it needs the battery hooked on for a bit to register.

It guess it possible that the battery is the cause.

But I’m betting you’ll be chasing those P035x codes before it’s over.

Do you think it doesn't start because my airbag went off?

No, if your setting P0351-356 codes you need to diagnose that first because the PCM will disable fuel to any cylinder that it doesn't get an ignition confirmation (IGF) signal from.
Since the engine runs for a few seconds, stalls, and P0351-356 set I will assume for the moment the coils all have power, ground, and IGT signals and there is something wrong with the ignition confirmation (IGF) circuit.
An oscilloscope is required to see the IGF signal but you can check the IGF circuit for an open or short to ground with a meter.
Wiring diagram, pinouts, code chart, and scope captures below.

Here's an update. The repair was too advanced for me so I took it into my local Toyota dealership. They located some wires from the wiring loom that were damaged which ran to the ignition coils. After that repair, the car ran!!! Best money spent. I only wish I was good with electrical. The diagnosis and repair set me back $520 which isn't so bad.
