    Helen was nice to her purely out of respect for me, but admitted to me a day or so after Jim died that she felt I could do better, and that girl seemed to only care about herself.

    The alternator is on backorder and will be arriving tomorrow. It would appear that Pete got me a brand new (not remanufactured) Denso unit from his supplier!

    But it's only taking a few minutes to bring my battery to a full charge now, so I think I saved it...

    Yeah, he tagged me over in his “Alternator” thread.
    I should have asked over there in that one, but I have this thread saved to my “favorites”.

    Thanks for letting me know though:thumbsup:
    I appreciate it.

    @ColoradoTJ

    So, somebody bought the Corvette and paid Helen full asking price. We were not able to get Jim into the the veterans cemetery, so there will be a memorial service at the funeral home on September 16th, and then his ashes will be scattered at some of his favorite places.

    I think Helen's daughters want her to move down to Texas so she can be closer to them, because Jim took care of a lot of stuff and Helen is a 78-year old arthritic elderly woman; I had been hoping to buy one of their rental properties as a first place, but I don't think I will have a down payment together before they relocate Helen.

    Also, Helen has a valid driver's license and has not been declared unfit to drive by a medical professional, but when Jim was still alive she rarely drove (even her own Corvette) and I got the impression from talking to her daughter today that they don't want her driving anymore.

    I have been in this exact situation. Nothing anyone says can help. All you can do is process the grief in whatever way you can....as long as it's a healthy way.

    Ultimately though....the best way to honor someone is to eventually move foward. Any decent human being would not want to emotionally burden someone.

    And remember the old clique: "Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened".

    Glad she got the car sold. One less thing to worry about. That was a very clean and well maintained Corvette.

    Being close to family is probably a better choice. Helen will need all the help she can get moving forward.

    I don’t want to be put in the ground either. Never once have I went back to a gravesite after a funeral. Spread my ashes. Some of the amazing spots we have laid to rest loved ones: calm glass ocean waters and beautiful mountain ranges.

    A motorcycling friend was killed in an accident in May and was cremated. His ashes were divided and a portion given to several riding friends to scatter at various places they had visited with Jason when he was alive or places Jason had wanted to visit. Little parts of him are on the Blue Ridge Parkway, in the Rockie Mountains, and in British Columbia now.
