For LEO use cases, their push bars are usually rated for gently pushing vehicles off to the side of the road, and won't generally take damage from those. For things like PIT maneuvers, those cars gets royally F'd up, and the fix-it yard is full of trashed cruisers. The frame is only one of the items thats get messed up, and they have a fund for repair on damaged vehicles so that's not a huge concern for them.

Farm use, most are running proper cattle bumpers, not just the westin style flimsy brush guards. tie into the frame more firmly, but also don't have the leverage effect that bull bars / brush guards do. It's not just the impact, they can tweak the frame by bending the front end up due to the extra leverage.

I personally had not purchased or installed it, the pervious owner has had it on the truck since 2009. When I asked about it, he said it is a modded Rhino.

@mattski81 I've put the round fogs (linked below) on over 10 years ago. They really help on those super foggy pre-dawn mornings. The LED bar is to help to try and avoid critters when traveling pre-dawn through mountains or the desert.

Don't disagree, aesthetics is a big one with these brush/bull/push bars. I do have my personal uses as mentioned above, but generally it's all based on ones luck. If you smash into a car/tree/moose etc, I likely imagine there being more damage than protection for sure!

I'd like better lighting on forest roads, especially lighting up the roads further than what the high beams can illuminate. Also, what would be really helpful is to light up the sides more, ditches, bushed/grassed lands for visibility sake. Not really looking for anything to use on the HWY, as I can see well enough at night that I've never been left wanting.

I will need to check local laws for SAE J581 compliance in regards to auxiliary lighting. Thanks for the heads up on that.

Cool setup Primo! Glad you got saved by your bar, sometimes they do end up providing "some" protection!

Will ebay around for what you mentioned, size wise these look perfect on your rig!

Mine looks identical, but its a Big Country. I think Trident made similar one.

A lot of grill guards are made in Mexico and shipped up up here the same ones and branded by different companies. I see trailers loaded up with them all the time going up I-35

Back to the original topic.....I also have these lights also...they are the best by far...if you want a lot of throw. 2 of these puts out way more light and way further than any lightbar I have ever seen. They say has to do with the deep reflector.

Enjoy watching PIT maneuvers on youtube. Kinda pisses me off when not done correctly or soon enough. And yes, those cars get messed up. Too bad we don't have that kind of coin.

You never mentioned what type of lighting you were looking for? Street legal driving lights, fog, or Insane daylighter offroad lights?

Hah, while I get and appreciate that argument... hitting anything "solid" even at 20mph, a tree or another vehicle would still cause considerable damage.

Multiplier or not, there are quite a few scenarios where you can total your truck if you had a push bar, but a LOT more scenarios where it wouldn't matter if you had a push bar or not, you're looking for a new truck.

Very cool setup, I must say you have an expansive collection of rather tropical moths there, these don't look like anything we have up in Canada. You must be quite a bit south!

Pretty cool, I will look into that! Just out of curiosity, what type/brand of brush bar is that?

Here is my "force multiplier" setup (yes, some on TW classify this as such). "Old school" driving lights - Stainless KC Hi-lites, quartz sealed beams, triggered by the high beam circuit. Outside pair, Hella driving with quartz amber burners, dash switch installed in a factory blank. Separate circuit relays for each pair.

Hah, funny enough I was just there a few weeks back when I bought new suspension parts. I will have to drive back and have another look at their lighting. Cheers!

Based on your description, I'd recommend a set of Diode Dynamics SS3 Pro or Max fogs or the new Morimoto 4Banger fogs to solve your peripheral lighting needs. I have the SS3 Max and my son has the Morimotos and we're both very happy with them.

For your distance lighting needs, I'd highly recommend the new Diode Dynamics SS5 Pros in a driving pattern. I have a pair in the spot pattern behind the grill in my 4Runner and the light output is stunning.

As for the cheap eBay and Amazon stuff, don't waste your time. Trust me, most of it is junk.

For the good stuff, only one place to buy:

"Triggered by the high beam circuit", Jesus all of these light up when you pop your HI-BEAMS. Must be a hell of a nice drive on the HWY, wonder how much grief you get with these lit up from law enforcement though? Have you gotten much attention? Maybe you just have them tuned right, and legal. Can't imagine the face an oncoming driver would make if you flashed them for having their HIGH-BEAMS on!

Only the inboard lights are on the high beam circuit. They are also switched - can be isolated from the high beam circuit (for legal reasons).

I have NEVER gotten "grief" from a LEO - EVER. Probably because I live in rural area and haven't been stopped for a traffic violation in 30 years.

Yep, a "quick" "flash" of the driving lights gets an offending, oncoming drivers, immediate attention.

Let's not confuse what the OP has with something like this monstrous 117lb "push bar" made by Ranch hand. I can see this holding up to impact but it also costs as much as a steel bumper:

To be fair, the push bar on my truck isn't that light (I recently uninstalled it to paint it), it's actually quite solid and I use it to push young growth down and under as I drive. It's been modified to delete the side headlight guards but there isn't much difference in regards to the mounting type (both are NOT welded and instead mounted at 4 points). I highly doubt this one provides anymore protection than the one I have.
