More like realistic…GOT was most entertaining start to finish but it def came off the rails the last couple seasons

 

Admittedly I haven't read the book, but I know the rough plotline of what needs to happen. I'd say you are correct.

 

Just turn on the subtitles. Watch ‘n read at the same time.

 

Actually that was what spoiled it for me. I was googling house sigils and ran across the Targ's family tree. (Big surprise, it isn't so much tree shaped, more of a mangrove root.)

I would not recommend looking it up if you don't want to know what's about to happen.

 

You know, kinda like the last season of GoT, it's filmed dark and I was unsure if it was actually that. But thanks for the confirmation.

 

I've been doing that for the last 2 years since our daughter was born, small old house and sound carries. I'm so used to subtitles now I use them even when I don't need to lol.

My biggest gripe about the ending was how they spent so many years/seasons talking about the Night King and the real war coming between the white walkers and the rest of the world, how the 'game of thrones' was nothing compared to the actual threat of the Night King. Only to have that plot line snuffed out so relatively quickly in the end...was looking forward to more of that story line based on how built up it was for so long. But the way the show panned out they probably would've needed another season for that and it was time to wrap it up.

Those of you still talking about the ending of GOT - first of all, get over it

but more importantly - GRRM was heavily involved in GOT production the first few seasons until the story passed his book material. Then he spent 3 days with the show runners giving them a rough idea of what he had in mind and they took it and ran with it.

GRRM is heavily involved in HOTD and has also written the story completely so there should be no comparison to the last few seasons of GOT and no one should have any reason to think this show won’t be good.

The first episode was great and drew 10M viewers. There are plenty of big moments to come that will make for great television and keep this thing going until the next spin off comes out

Different showrunners here. D&D expedited the last few seasons of GoT so they could move on to other projects. It's entirely their fault. But not having source material to draw from is also a hindrance. The overall idea, sure, but they clearly weren't able to fill in the gaps.

GRRM should stop cashing cheques and finish the books.

Personally I think he’s already finished them but isn’t going to release them until he’s long gone, like it’s part of his last will and testimony so he leaves a legacy and makes royalities long after he’s gone. Like all these mumble rappers who die at age 22 but put out new music every week for the next 6 years

Haven’t watched. I’m saving them up for a flight to Europe in a few weeks, along with the Amazon Tolkien effort.

I’m more reader than watcher. Would much rather have the book. Martin and Rothfuss are both heartbreakers in that regard. Jordan just up and died. Can’t blame him for that, and Sanderson did okay finishing up.

I just hope both the shows stick to a good story and avoid subliminal attempts at current political thinking.

I'm keeping my expectations very low for LOTR - From what I have seen and read it looks to be disappointing

That said, I had very very low expectations for HOTD premiere as well and they were blown out of the water

 

From what I’ve heard and read it’s the exact opposite in regard to LOTR. Curious where you are reading this??
