Got my truck back today. No more whistle! Not only that but an annoying rattle by the a pillar is gone too. I’m super happy with the work.

Based on sctrenshot a few posts back, looks like T-SB-0004-22 (kudos to @ezatnova) putting in PN 88511-04020. Doesn't show up in any Google searches; maybe hasn't hit the mainstream yet. Maybe he can provide the MC number associated with this.

Just an update mid-way through the swap. Not too bad. Basically just have to undo the last 149 steps that the Toyota assembly line does when building the truck. Easy peasy.

Are you all hearing this everyday?

Tonight I heard this for the first time, my truck only has 800 miles on it. Happened three times. Twice just after making a turn at a light and accelerating maybe 25mph. The other time as I was about to get off the interstate at about 65mph. Freaked me out so I started googling it and the video of the white Pro in this thread sounds just like what I heard today.

I guess what I need to start doing is when I hear it again turn off the AC and see if that stops it. It’s a low faint whistle sound but I clearly hear it with the windows up and stereo off.

So glad I found this thread, I had my truck in 4hi on Monday and when I heard this noise I was wondering if something was damaged from it.

If it sounds like when you rub your finger across the top of a wine glass then It’s your ac. My 2017 does it since new but didn’t bother having the dealer mess it up. Still blowing ice cold even in 107f temp in traffic here in SoCal .

To me sounded just like the video I mentioned. The AC is blowing cold, I’m in North Carolina and when I turned on the AC in the truck earlier there was a foggy mist (looked smoke like in appearance but it wasn’t smoke) coming out of the vent I’m guessing from how hot and humid it is here right now. I could walk outside right now and my glasses that I wear would fog up.

Yup, mine sounds like that when i have defrost or a/c on. I have a rear seat delete and there is a driveline whine that is more audible now that its gone, it doesn't get louder but its relative to travel speed, increasing in pitch as you speed up around the carrier bearing. It was very faint with the seats in, with them out theres more clarity in the sound but isn't getting louder and its nothing compared to the 4Lo sound of our transfer cases

My truck has been doing this since the first month I owned it. I'm with @bulalo - the A/C is ice cold and works great in this south Florida heat. If all that happens is the occasional faint whistle and functionality or longevity of the unit aren't affected, I'd rather not have them tear the thing down and pull the A/C unit to replace the evaporator core. Lord knows the rattles I'd have after that was done.

For all that have this sound, where does it sound like it’s coming from to you? I literally can’t tell where, it just sounds outside upfront somewhere.

Like the TSB says, it’s the evap box so it’s coming from front below all the dash components.

I had it fixed months ago. Zero rattles. So glad I don’t have the stupid whistle anymore. Was borderline going to sell the truck, it was so annoying.

Today when I was leaving work as soon as I started my truck this time I got the noise from right behind the dash. Only lasted maybe two seconds though and the drive home was quiet.

A different noise. Lately every time my truck sits at work and I go to drive it at lunch or to go home, after I back out of the parking space and start driving forward, just going a few feet, I hear a slight pop noise from the back rear right side of the truck.

I’m just not used to all these noises, especially from a brand new vehicle. But from what I have read on TW, get used to it, it’s a noisey truck. I’m ok with that as long as there isn’t something actually wrong. But it makes me wonder, if a noise is a sign of something wrong, how are we supposed to know the difference between “normal” for this truck and an actual problem?

Actually the noise will be less as time goes by. Mine still does it but not as much and not as pronounced as before . Hardly notice it now

I hear a whine once in awhile, usually on the seat next to me... I'm used to it, been married 42 years...

Those are called custom tones, like 'you should have turned where i told you to turn', 'your following too close', 'im not nagging', 'too close to the shoulder', 'too close to the shoulder and a huge dropoff!', 'not going fast enough', 'those are the wrong headlights to be looking at'

I get a noise right when i start my truck, AC off. It sounds like a squealing belt but very quiet, i hear it coming from the dash area and i can only hear it in the cab. I've tried popping the hood and listening for it while idling but it's too quiet and i cant hear it over the engine/fan noise.
the squeal also speeds up while accelerating, road noise and music drown it out pretty easily. It's been doing this for over a year now and i've had no major issues and it hasn't gotten worse so i'm not really concerned about it.

Had always wondered what the whine was. I always thought it was a harmonic coming from the rear of the truck. Its most noticeable when towing and in the summer, so the A/C makes sense. Anyhow, since my warranty expired last year, its moot.

Built at the end of July, took delivery last Friday, have TSB from January... The thought of a dealership ripping out the dash on a truck with less than 1k miles on it is disappointing. At least it wasn't the rear diff so I got that goin' for me, which is nice.
