    Hello Tacoma Peeps,

I recently bought a used 2016 SR5 Tacoma , when I received it I notice that the low tire pressure light is on (solid). Using techstream i notice non of the wheels are showing any tire pressure. What can be the issue.?The truck initially had 16 inch tires and wheels, a new set of 17 inch rims and tires were installed by the seller before they sold me it.

How to use techstream to reprogram tpms.

    Help urgently

I think the steel wheels had a different sensor, so I’m wondering if the PO cheaped out and didn’t buy new/correct ones?

Ok, I will buy four new ones and try it. Can the valve stems be installed without the tpms

    Thanks

OEM the valve stem is part of the sensor, Autel ones I am running the valve stem looks OEM but the sensor is separate and screws into the valve stem like most other manufacturers. My four Autel sensors were $100 I think on Amazon and have been problem free for at least two years now.

Edit - might be worth taking it to a tireshop who has a TPMS tool that can test the sensors themselves

You have the option of ignoring the TPMS warning. I run 2 sets of wheels and tires only one of which has sensors. I monitor my tire air pressure manually. The TPMS does give me something occupy my mind when bored much like the inclinometer.

Depending on how you want to deal with the issue, some TW members put black electrical tape over the warning light when they switch to wheels with no TPMS sensors.

Don’t forget to rotate the air in your tires regularly and then reset the sensors.

Or they are there and they just weren't programmed into the truck's tpms system.

Im betting the TPMs are still in the old wheels. If the valve stem don't have a hex like the ones show here, they are just standard valve stems not TPMs.

pretty sure the only difference in the sensor is the angle they sit at. They are supposed to kind of be braced against the side of the wheel, to stop the centrifugal force for the wheel spin from snapping them. They should still transmit, and I don't think they would hold air if they were broken.

you need a sensor reader to read the codes and program them manually in techstream. or you can go to a tire shop
