Want a taller tire for my 2022 Off Road... Help!!!

I can’t remember original mpg but I have 33x11r20 nitto EXO grappler I know over kill like F and weigh too damn much but by far have outperformed in every situation I’ve put them through

 

Hankook DynaPro ATM 265/75-16 Great all around 4x4 tire, sand, rock, mud, snow, and quiet on the highway!

 

I'm still trying to figure out this out. I'm pretty sure I want to stick with the 16" wheel. I have however come down to a Nitto Ridge Grappler for the tire.

 

Toyo AT3 in 265/75/16. Looks great, fills the well a little more, pretty quiet, and not much weight gain. *if* I’ve seen an mpg drop, it’s 1/2mpg or less.

 

I think you will find that if you go up one tire size, the speedo actually becomes more accurate. Mine and a lot of others did. I verified mine using my GPS and some of those speed radar gizmos they put up in neighborhoods.

You can also put the digital speed readout on the center display and compare it to the speedo gauge itself.

 

Here’s my datapoint. Yes, I adjusted my speedo with an aftermarket tool. But I’m a bit OCD. Factory calibrations tend to overestimate speed by 2-3 mph at highways speeds. Moving to a 265/75/16 will probably mitigate that and you’ll be reporting -1 to 0 mph difference.

I found that strictly ratio’ing by tire size still needed a little tweaking so I tweaked just a little more (can’t remember which direction. I tend to see 0-1 mph difference between 65 and 80.

 

Yes, the speedometer will now read correctly (as it was tweaked to read a bit faster, at the factory) but the odometer also slows down: it goes from correct to below the true distance traveled. About 4%.

Simply add 4% to the trip odometer miles when you figure your true-miles-per-gallon or trip miles traveled.

Doing the math my last fill-up fuel mileage figure goes up from 15.4 to 16.0 MPG.

 

Hard to be the price on Toyo Open Country A/T3's. I got a set of 5 for $1100 installed. Had them on my Jeep and now on the Tacoma. Always perform well.

 

I ran the original Open Country ATs on my 2005 Tacoma... Yes, they were very good... worked well in the sand and were quiet on the highway.

 

How do they perform going to the mall, supermarket and up a 7% grade in rwd on a 60 degree day?

 

You will need to research that for yourself. I would never do such a thing in my Tacoma! LOL

Havent really noticed any MPG difference. This was the first thing I did when i bought my truck.

As for road noise they're really really quiet. Falken did their research.

 

Yeah Nittos aren't known for being quiet lol

 

Honestly these tires really are not loud slight hum windows Down up barely hear them and a little music not at all but the tire and truck combo I went through the worst mud I’ve ever seen 15 straight miles I thought I was going to have to call someone to get me out some spots looked impossible I Guarantee if I was on any other make up truck I would’ve needed help to get out

 

I'm doing a lot of research on tires. The Nitto Ridge Grappler is coming up as one one the quieter A/T tires. The tread and sidewall look extremely similar to a Bridgstone Dueler A/T I had on Chevy Trailblazer in the mid 2000's. Those were not the noisy.

 

I haven't really done any research. All I know is when we were on the way to some wheeling, buddy's Jeep next to me on Ridge Grapplers drowned out my Geolandar MTs at 60 mph.

 

I had Exo Grapplers on my old Wrangler, which is an even less aggressive tread than the Ridge, and those puppies hummed.
