Well, we made it to Angel Fire. Tires had a slight vib at 55mph for the 12hr drive. Did fine at 85mph. I know I need a front tire balance anyway. They're doing well in the snow so far.

Glad you made it and it's good to know it's most likely is a balance issue. Thanks for the update. :)

Welp. I found a set of five 285/70/17 Mud Terrains from treadwright with ~5000 that I'm picking up here in a little bit.

Well I'm about to sell my set of 4 TreadWright BFGAT lookalikes +1 17" spare "real" BFGAT in 285/70/17 if you are interested. The have less than 3,000 miles. I'm in Austin.

I'm sticking w/ TreadWright to going down a size to 265/75/16 TRD OR Stockers.

I just noticed the other day a guy at work has them on his Cherokee.
This is his second set. First set he got 35 or 40 thousand miles out of them and that was with wheeling almost every weekend. He loves 'em and highly recommends them.

I just put a set on my truck. They even came on BFG All Terrain cases. They took 6 ounces of weight each and are slightly our of round. The tire tech said that the out of round issue will correct itself and treadwright says that they balance them to within 8 ounces at the factory. I have no issues with them so far and I saved so much cash going this route.

i've aired them down quite a bit..treadwright doesn't like that so you gamble with your warranty but with my last set they were aired down and the girlie was driving the truck while i was directing..she bumped into a boulder and ended up plowing right over it..the whole sidewall buckled on top of itself and i freaked out thinking for sure it had sliced right through it or blown up or something but it was just fine, handled it like a beast! i swear up and down by my treadwrights!

265 or 285. tough choice, i had them both. i'm running 285s now, they look a shit ton better but gas millage suffered a bit. if i had to buy another set i'd get 285s again

ya thats the thing im worried about the mpg's. especially with gas prices going up.
Im also looking at 33/10.5's but there not treadwrights but there more espensive at $140/tire.
