It was born in a litter of 12 (10 live) on January 5th this year. Could have been a great great grandma by now! Her mom and dad were left on the street in a cage and they had two litters in our care, my then 1.5 year old saw them and started walking towards them when I was a way for work, my wife took them in. Of both litters the parents had in our care she was the only one who let us hold her and had blue eyes and white patches of the two litters. We learned a lot about rabbits really quickly. We found all her siblings and her parents homes. This was a terrible outcome.

My wife is happy it won’t eat all her sprouting winter greens. So there’s that.

That is true for the most part.

Our raised beds have exhausted their soil and it is about 1/3 the volume of when we built the garden 20 months ago. I just grabbed a truck and trailer full of organic composted soil AKA shredded yard waste, filling them back in over the next week or so as rain allows and planting winter crops.

this is my work in progress.
mixed crops provide lots of food, work and learning opportunities.

shifting to no till as the weeding is overwhelming me.

In this area, most rabbits are night dwellers. I guess, less humans to bother them.

It’s not that they aren’t up and about in the day near you just just are a lot less active. Rabbits are a crepuscular animal. For all we know in Winnipeg this picture could have been taken at 9:30pm.
