How long did you have to wait for your factory 2022 order/request/whatever it is called?

The app will accept temp vins, at least it did for me. Could be a typo by you or the dealer, or your vehicle was built and the temp vin is no longer valid.

 

Mine is a temp VIN and the app accepted it fine.

 

My Taco finally showed up on the daily spreadsheet pull!!! WOOHOO!! Now it just needs a truck transport up this way!

Mines almost to 2 months from build date come September 8th. With that in mind, I am in North Dakota. But it is still showing on a train to Dayton's Bluff. I have seen some people get theirs delivered in 2 weeks.

 

The "Toyota App" I downloaded to my Android phone works perfectly well with my temporary VIN.

 

What part of North Dakota? I bought from the grand forks dealership and I had to wait almost four months for mine to come. From the time to allotment to delivery.

 

Minot. Mine was allocated in May, built July 8th so it should be here anytime now...hopefully.

 

Put down a deposit on a Blue Crush Off Road Wednesday, they didn't offer a temp vin or anything but said the truck would be here approximately 40 days from now. Is a Temp vin common and something I can just request?

 

It depends. I put a deposit down on a Blue Crush Sport back in February; at the time my dealership didn't have any allocations for a Tacoma which even remotely matched my requested build. In early August they called me and told me they received an allocation for a Barcelona Red truck which was otherwise identical to my request; I jumped on it and they provided me with the temporary VIN when I asked for it.

That was a long way of telling you, if, and that is a big "IF", if your dealership has an allocation which matches your request, then they can provide you with a temporary VIN (or a permanent VIN if the truck is already built). That said, many dealerships aren't quite so forthcoming about what they actually have in the pipeline versus what may become available; in a case like this, there will be no temporary VIN available and that 40-day delivery window is highly suspect.

 

How are you guys using the app to track? Do you have to activate the services? If so does that start the time on one free year? Thanks

 

Yea who knows what is actually happening with dealers sales teams most times. What I put a deposit down on was supposedly an allocation to them already according to the sales guy so well see. I emailed him about a temp vin on the truck so hope its real and will be moving soon.

So my dealer's web-site had the vehicle I put a deposit down on with a temp vin.
It got a permanent vin 1 day after it was planned to be built, and the temp changed to a permanent on the dealer site.
From there, after asking Rod, I could infer how many stops it would have figuring where it was built in Mexico (I had used the "nhtsa vin decoder" site for the temp and the permanent vin to verify point of manufacture), the fact that others built at the same facility went to port of Veracruz, then based on date of others, when it was expected to show up in port (about 5days trip from Veracruz to Jacksonville FLA). The notifications of changes in miles driven, and door unlocks helped solidify the segments of the journey.
From there, I expect approx 3-8days to a dealer's lot in the N.E. YMMV.

 

My temp VIN stopped working a week ago today. I just bugged my dealer to see if there is any other way for them to get this or if this is totally normal.

Hoping I’m already on the boat and this is just a technical thing on their end that they didn’t reconcile the permanent with the temporary VINs in the Toyota system yet.

 

Same question. I have my permanent VIN, downloaded the Toyota app and put it in, and my vehicle came up as expected. It lists all those trial services (WiFi Connect, Remote Connect, Safety Connect, etc.) as currently inactive. Do I need to do ANYTHING else to get door unlocked alerts? I don’t want to activate a trial too early and not get the most time out if it. I do have ‘Notifications Allowed’ on the app settings if that helps.

 

Final update.
May 18 - put down a deposit, wanting a TRD OR Army Green DCSB with tech package or LED headlights.
Jul 15 - my dealer got an allocation for a truck without either of the packages and put my name on it. I decided to accept it instead of wait (and I'm glad I did, because I really wanted Army Green, which appears to not be a 2023 color, so I probably would not have gotten the exact truck I wanted)
Build date was given as Aug 9
Aug 12 - truck built in Tijuana
Aug 18 - departed Long Beach
Aug 23 - arrived in the Denver area
Aug 25 - arrived at the dealership and picked up by me
