She just hit 180k. Synthetic oil change, new plugs, cleaned the MAF and throttle body plate, drain and fill the trans, drain and fill both diffs and xfer case, lubed up all the zerks on the drive shaft and UCA's, and rotated all 6 tires. She's ready for her next adventure

Toyota said that’s where they’d start, but may not be the issue. I’m taking it somewhere else tomorrow morning, someplace that is $700 cheaper than the dealership. I’m not spending $1,000 on parts and labor that may or may not fix it.

what happens if that thing fills up? does it just go back into the PCV and into the engine to be burned?

9/10 when I have a vehicle in the shop that has a one time pop or clank when turning or on an incline; is a bolt that isnt as tight as it should be. Grab a 19mm wrench and tighten all the alignment bolts and nuts. Check your lower shock mount bolts, any suspension bolt you can tighten, try it. I have never seen or heard a inner or outer tie rod make a solitary pop when turning. Not hearing it myself I cant say definitively what it is, but 1000$ is waay to much for a guess. Especially from the people who are supposed to know without a doubt what will fix it.

You’d likely get a cel since the airflow would be interrupted. I’ve had mine on since new and it’s never been overfilled between oil changes

Or over tightened. I had a single clunk/pop in almost the same scenario. Ended up being the lca bushings binding so I loosened and re-torqued with the truck on the ground and voila, noise gone

What he said ^^ It would start to get sucked back into the the intake and plug up the vacuum (evap) line and throw a code. I empty it every oil change and so far has never been over full. Mine has a dipstick on it also so I can easily check it any time my hood is open. It takes like a minute to empty it also if it is getting full.

I have heard of people being worried about the condensation build up in the lines freezing in the winter and clogging the lines but I haven't had an issue with that at all and I mounted mine above the header just to help warm it up faster also if that were an issue.

right, but in the picture he had a considerable amount after only 500 miles...unless he made a typo and meant 5k miles

    edit:
im getting my quotes mixed up. i see he said after 5k now. the other guy posted a pic after 500 miles

When you’re holding the tie rod and the wheel is turned to the left, you can feel a pop, every time it turns to the left but not the right. The boot on the outer tie rod is busted so it will need to be replaced, but nothing has been done to anything under the truck since I’ve had it new at 7 miles. I’m wondering about the rack and pinion. I will go out here in a little while and check all the nuts and bolts I can.
