my man! Thank you for the kind words! I do still pump those out from home, but not on the scale as I used to be able to. I moved away from 3D printing and got more involved in Machining.. professionally that is.. but still tinker at home with my little printer. I'd love to get some industrial printers again to be able to confidently ramp up production on some of my 3D parts. That's part of the above plan.. lol

but let me know if there's anything I can help out with. Also, I really like your HAM? setup. I've had my CB in my center console for like 10 years.. and hardly ever use it, it needs some TLC. I've thought about gutting it all and starting over with a new location and new radio.. but not sure what system to go with these days. I really just use my handheld Rugged Radios now.. I'd like something with weather tho..

Ham. I went with a Yaesu 8900 from the 7900 pictured. Gave me dual side capabilities so I can monitor separate freqs. I do volunteer work for a desert race series, and is handy so I can talk to main race control "Weatherman" one side, then my buddies and I can talk to each other on a different side channel if we're working a search effort / recovery / rollover.

got ya! very cool. I bet that's fun. I'd love to volunteer at a race event like that. This last year at KOH I found out and talked to some of the guys who volunteer for the camera and recovery crews. They just drive them around and serve as basecamps. Definitely going to sign up for it next year.

It's a long drive, but if you find yourself up in the SLC area next summer between May and Oct, we could get you to one of our races.

Here is a little blast from the past for me. 10 years ago I did an internship with large company that manufactures rather large components that sit on the seafloor. My job was to 3D model all the existing CNC machines in this shop and then setup the machines in Vericut. Then work with the programmers so they could proof out and simulate the code whenever changes where made. Some of the stainless castings being machined where 4'x4'x10' and 80,000 lbs which was awesome to see spinning on vertical lathes. And lots of inconel

Oh we're in! I've been up that way a couple times, that sounds like a blast! We're actually headed to Moab next Wed-Mon.

niiiiice! talk about making sure you get those models right! We use Vericut here for our larger, more costly jobs.. and have the UMC's fully modeled, but they were supplied. Such a cool feature.. I nerd out on just those models.. I love seeing tool changes and table movements in my program sim. super satisfying. lol Man I've ran my fair share of Inconel.. Pre and Post heat treat in the same job. highly wearable pivot ball part.

I thought about doing my radio there but decided against it. Didn't want it to be a crumb and splash magnet.

Pretty rare that I eat in the truck, and if I'm spilling anything, its all over the front of myself due to a penchant for wide mouth nalgene bottles. :D Works for me, but could see how it could be an issue.

Switchpro location has had more consequence since my dog likes to hop on the console to look out the windshield when I run into a store, etc. Came walking out of the grocery store before leaving on a trip and all my leds were strobing, air compressor on, etc with a proud looking Draco in the front seat enjoying his light show:rofl:

I don't recall spilling anything, but I had the center console out yesterday while I was seeing where I wanted to mount this thing, and it looks like an entire soda was spilled into it. The floor panel was all nasty and the edges of every piece has a dried brown something on it. Wiped it all out, looks like new now, then showered. Yuck.

What the heck is that about???
I understand that the dealership has to make a buck, still -- damn....

The tie rods are less than $30/each on RockAuto, for Moog brand.
I'm sure the local NAPA store could provide the same for less than $100.
