Friends, I looked through the past 100 pages of this thread and could not find post with the combo of Army Green Tacoma and Gold (GO) TEs

    like this one
    Screen Shot 2022-08-24 at 7.51.34 PM.jpg

For my Tacoma, I'm kinda torn between that set of gold 17x8.5 -10mm

or a set of gloss black 18x9 0mm

    Screen Shot 2022-08-24 at 7.54.23 PM.jpg

I think the gold ones can look good with Army Green truck, it's just I'm not so sure about -10mm offset.
I plan on sticking with stock size and highway tire compound (Michelin Defender) and suspension stock.
So they would be 265/65/17 or 265/60/18

If I go with the 17" -10mm gold ones:
    • Is it strictly no rub (including mud flaps)? I had to heat gun the 4Runner fender in order to put -10mm wheels there and I still couldn't get rid of some occasional inclined reverse rubbing.
if I go with 18" 0mm gloss black ones:
    • I assume there will be no rub because I'm currently running 0mm offset RPT1 on the truck with 0 rub whatsoever, but the width is 9" on the 18" and I'm not sure if the 265 width tire gonna look too stretched.
    What would you guys pick?

Gold on green would work but would be very “hey look at me” IMO. Black on green would be classier.

Both would have about the same poke with the 17x8.5 -10 having about 4mm more

    I doubt there will be a noticeable difference with a 265 on an 8.5 vs 9. A 265 is roughly 10.4” wide.

My wife and credit cards would hate me if I bought these... as much as I want to.

I'm not sure if this is a known issue, but I can't fit both the center cap and the hub ring together.

    I got these from ebay

    Screen Shot 2022-08-26 at 5.12.06 PM.jpg

    Screen Shot 2022-08-26 at 5.07.36 PM.jpg

the center cap kinda already is a hub ring itself

    Screen Shot 2022-08-26 at 5.07.46 PM.jpg

as you can see, there's no way to push the hub ring into the center cap and then mount to the wheel

    Screen Shot 2022-08-26 at 5.07.59 PM.jpg

this is how it seats on the wheel from the inside

I doesn't stay snug on the wheel unfortunately, but after mounting the wheel to the rotor, it stays there tight

    Screen Shot 2022-08-26 at 5.20.56 PM.jpg

I always put hub rings when hub size != bore size, took my chance without one this time and test drove 60-70 mph, smooth as butter. I think I'll call it good and not worry about hub rings in Tacoma/4Runner as long as I have the center caps to reduce the hub bore size difference.

Good deal I might check that out as well. I've been using the Muteki SR48 locks but they don't have the spinning seat.

I see, I assume that everyone here with center caps also just runs these wheels without hub rings and no issues.

Don't lie... you have issues. Just not with your wheels.

No, you have to choose one or the other. I have the center caps and they hug the center hubs very tightly. After lugs torqued to spec, I have no steering wheel vibrations with the wheels paired with the Rays center caps.

Yup. Run 16" TE37XT with caps no rings for 5k miles now. Even went on some trails in Joshua Tree and drove back 300 miles. Got home just fine.

I see that you run these

they might fit more snug, but I've tried mine, a different style, and they fit loosely with the o-rings

The installer informed me ARP might be too long and they'd have to replace bearings in some location. I figured I'll bring some short ones.

    Your link is to 462
@drizzoh wished he had gone with 463 and there is also a thread on older gen Tacoma with 463

I lined them up for a photo shoot

    Screen Shot 2022-08-27 at 4.55.44 PM.jpg

you sure you installed 462 and got more turns? it looks pretty short compared to the other ones.

Yes. They are about 5-6mm longer than stock which is good for 3-4 extra turns

I just got done trying to do extended stud installs in my '22. Here is my findings:
The front: Dorman Toyota Matrix/Vibe studs # 610-463 worked great and went from 6 turns to 13 turns on each lug (approximately .55" longer than OEM).
The rear: Dorman Matrix #610-463 did NOT work trying to go through the rear hubs. The large smooth part before the splines would not go in, seems like they are 1mm too thick in diameter. Ended up ordering these for the rear as (3) auto part stores could not help me out. However I was able to maneuver these studs through the hub hole inside the drum brake area without pulling the axle or drilling a hole through the drum backer plate.
