You posted a map of charging locations and then you guys are insisting on charging in Portland and arguing with me about how much time would be lost there even though you have most likely never been to that city or driven on the highway through it.
I obviously know and everyone else as too that you can find charging stations all over. The point is I and many others don’t want to waste the limited free time we have charging a damn car.

I wish the manufacturers were more transparent about stuff like this. How many EV owners are disappointed about the real life range?

I posted no maps and did no arguing and not once did I mention Portland, you are just wanting to be difficult about it for whatever reason. I answered the question you asked with the details that mattered. I could’ve just given you a yes or a no without any information to back it up but that would be a pointless conversation at that point. If you want to ignore the post pointing out that an EV wouldn’t be a good fit for you then that’s your own fault.

Oh there are real life stranded stories of new EV owners who had no idea and the dealers aren’t telling them

Wrong again. It doesn’t seem like you have the ability to find charging stations, hence why I posted the map showing them along the route you asked about. I said “I would stop in Portland”. No one told you how to live your life. Get over it.

Why would I not have the ability to find a charging station? What makes you think you are smarter than the rest of us?

    You’re still wrong.

What was the point of you asking about the feasibility of taking a trip from SE MA to Belgrade Lakes in a Lightning or Rivian? Did you think it was impossible and you found a big “gotcha” that would make everyone rethink the feasibility of EVs?

Why would you ask about that trip if you knew where the charging stations were? Doesn’t seem like a smart question.

The other thing to point out EV batteries don't like cold or really hot weather lowering their efficiency and performance.

Did I ever once ask about charging stations? It’s only 240 miles, either truck should be able to make the trip. I asked 2 questions, how much range is lost in traffic and how long it would take to charge at 110 volts, nothing else.

None of those problems are hidden though. If someone doesn’t research what they are buying then it’s really their own fault, isn’t it? It’s like new members getting on TW and complaining about poor fuel economy - it’s no secret that the Tacoma and midsize trucks aren’t great at that.

They're not hidden never said they were but they sure are nowhere near upfront about it, for example, have yet for a Toyota dealer to tell me their trucks get good fuel economy.

Tbh EVs don't have the capability to fill every niche at the moment. L1 only / offgrid at the destination? Good luck. Distance towing? Low energy density means a lot more stops.

That said, I like cheap miles where I can get them, when there's infrastructure to support the EV (L1/2 at home) and it's within an EV's limitations.

As long as it’s electric, it’s <Tacoma. I’m not even a Taco fanboy either. Maybe someone who lives in a city would enjoy it, but things tend to be further spread out in rural America and I, like many others, don’t want to be wasting time at a charging station.
