KDMax-Pro Tuning--NOW YotaWerx Tuning

Got the KDMAX+XT @ normal throttle this afternoon. I’ll come back with a review after a few tanks, but so far it’s great. Immediately noticed the truck no longer shifted prematurely into 1k rpm hell. Not a dog anymore!

If money was no object, everyone would use 92 octane. Ethanol free is much easier on the engine as well. But it is almost $1 a gallon higher here, and not necessary when you are just running up and down the highway. On vacation through the mountains, it makes sense. But I'm not sure the improved mileage for 92 octane will pencil out as a break even. That is money that can be spent on groceries during these times.

 

First post! Shout out to @TacoTunesday for making my Tacoma the truck it should be! Tony installed the KDMAX tune almost two weeks ago and I still can't believe the difference it has made. I had a 2017 Tacoma and now a 2021 Tacoma and both are great trucks but both had the infamous "gear hunting" that drove me crazy. I wanted this tune the day we took delivery of the 2021 but there was nobody within a reasonable distance to have it done. I recently found out about Western Slope Tuning and immediately contacted Tony. We met up and in about 20 minutes he created a miracle. We went for a test drive and instantly noticed the difference. I opted for the "normal" throttle and I think the wife and I are used to it now as we haven't crashed through the garage yet...lol. I can't imagine what the "sport" throttle is like. I work and play in the mountains and this tune makes such a difference. For once I'm not manually choosing the gears for making climbs up the mountain roads. If you live in Western Colorado or Eastern Utah (Moab) and own a Toyota, you need to contact Tony! I know you guys/girls are out there and here on TW. There's Tacoma's/4Runner's everywhere around here. Tony is such a down to earth guy that gets along with anybody but at the same time is a genius in disguise! Thanks again Tony!

I enjoyed meeting up with Jason today and getting his 2019 TRD OR running on KDMAX Pro+XT (lite throttle) today....perfect for his daily with some light offroad aspirations!

We had a great conversation on mods these trucks benefit from, even into regearing. Starting with a tune the deciding on other options like gears is a great way to go. If you do regear down the road the tune adjustment is free!

I look forward to hearing about Jason's longer-term improve Tacoma and sharing it with anyone. Real feedback from real owners is the best way to get reviews!!

I have read what you guys specialize in, but am curious what is the earliest model 2TR you guys can tune?

 

The only software that Dave and I use is Vftuner.
We list the vehicles that we tune on the first post.
So far, we have stuck with naturally aspirated vehicles (@mZiggy does Forced Induction--we refer those to him).
If you have something that is supported by VFtuner and want a custom tune, let us know.
