Since you’re asking for it . here you go. Just watch it in its entirety. Engine disassembled to show aftermath . It’s your ride
    Edit
Never thought watching an engine tear down is fun .

What's $45 for a peace of mind? Every 5k miles on the dot. Take care of your vehicle and it will take care of you.

It never ceases to amaze me how hard some people will try and prove their point as correct about oil change intervals. Everyone has their own reasons for picking the OCI that they want.

(This isn't aimed at any group, or anyone in particular.)

Some people in every group are very hard core about their decision to the point that they feel that they have to continually argue their position and seem like they don't even want to hear any other interval mentioned without getting their backs up. Nor do some seem to be able to just accept the decisions that others make for themselves.

I change my oil when l want to, at the mileage l want to and use what oil and filter that l want to. Because I'm the one paying all the bills for my truck!

In 6 years I have only done 20,000 miles and 10 oil changes (every march and Sept) + filter. I’m due for one now, and somehow I skipped one somewhere along the line.

So about every 2000 miles. Mostly those were in-town miles, at 45 mph max. So I don’t feel like I overchanged it at all.

This truck had nearly 32,000 miles on it when I bought it in 2016, and now has over 51,000.

It’s worth almost as much as I paid for it six years ago, so I don’t feel bad about spending a few extra bucks on easy maintenance.

Heck back in the 80's toyota had 7,500 mile oil changes and that was with dino motor oils. I had no issues back then and shouldn't have any now with 10k synthetics. Different engines have different motor oil migration rates depending on size and build for determining optimum 2 stroke oil to fuel ratios. I got into this with engine builders years ago when racing bikes, and snowmobiles. Its not all that different with current 4 stroke engines when figuring what these engines hold for oil capacity vs. the time for oil changes. If you listen long enough whats told on these video's you'd be changing your oil every week. Go by your owners manual what the engine manufacture recommends for your conditions, not the internet.

Honestly, no kiddin, I can see changing it much sooner at those miles. 20,000 miles in 6 years borders using a taxi to get from airport to hotels, LOL

In the last 6 years I have driven roughly 300,000 miles.

I have a 2002 3.4 v6 Tacoma haven't had it for long and it appears from the window sticker that he did it every 10k miles he did tell me he only used Mobile 1 full synthetic which is written in the engine bay and the sticker on the windshield, The engine runs smooth appears to have no problems I thought it had no oil leaks but one night I flashed the light underneath and saw a really small drop of oil buts it's not really noticeable I think someone just spilled some during an oil change it has 198k miles,

I think it all really depends how you drive.

I’ve been retired for 5 1/2 years. I also own three other vehicles and a motorcycle.

I used to drive 100 miles a week just to work and back. It was all crosstown stop and go traffic.

I didn’t change the oil because it was worn out. I changed the oil, because after six months, mixed with combustion byproducts, it tends to go stale.

50 years ago I was the assistant manager at an equipment rental company. I changed oil when it felt sticky and wasn’t lubricating. I changed if it smelled bad or had gasoline in it.

Otherwise those machines went through hell and they ran a long time.
This is all due to modern oil chemistry.

Back in the 30s and 40s things weren’t nearly so good chemical-wise.
One of the other reasons that I change the oil so often was that I purchased a used truck with 30,000 miles on it and I’m pretty sure that it didn’t get the kind of oil change schedule I would give it.

The engine wasn’t particularly dirty but it wasn’t particularly clean, and changing the oil frequently keeps a strong detergent package in the engine that helps wash things out.

My feeling is that factory oil change intervals are designed to ensure that the engine makes it through the warranty.

Anything more is just icing to the manufacturers.

Anyhow it wouldn’t disturb me if this truck was still running the day I died, just as well as it runs now. Considering that this is the easiest oil change of any vehicle I have ever owned I would feel like a fool if I didn’t do it frequently.

While I respect the opinion of the “The Care Car Nut”.
And I do believe he is a brilliant and smart man, he’s still a Toyota Employee.
I just don’t believe he’d be willing to go against anything that Toyota recommends.
You will almost never have issues doing maintenance sooner than recommended.
And his job is probably not in jeopardy by telling us to “properly maintain or do maintenance early”.

There’s been more than one person loose a job by expressing their opinion.

He is not a Toyota employee, he owns his own shop. He is using youtube to market. The more people who come to him for oil changes, the more money he makes.

I thought he was a Toyota Employee p.
I guess I was wrong. But 99% of the time, anyone in the business of repairing anything will always tell you sooner is better. For me personally, I use my own judgment based on the way I use my equipment.
