    Hello everyone!

I own a 2003 Double Cab V6 TRD that is in need of a steering rack. Does anyone have information on the Fuji racks offered on eBay? I have found virtually no info about it online.

Also, other than OEM, what aftermarket steering racks are recommended as a replacement?

Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Buy a Genuine Toyota Part from a dealer. Cost will be between $525 and $600 for a new one. If you spend less than that you will be replacing the rack in a year or two, if that long.

I’ve had a Detroit axle steering rack on my Tacoma for a good 5 years now with no issues. Got it off Amazon for under $300.

I had an oem replacement on my 02 installed some years back, and first one only lasted about a year. Toyota backed it though and the second one was free, still had to pay labor though. Also replaced tie rods with that. Be careful with the hoses to that too, as those aren’t cheap either!

if fixed at first sign......might last long time.....

And keeping clean/new fluid in it will go a long ways.....

    OP,
I replaced my steering rack just last month: Time for New Steering Rack on '97 Taco | Tacoma World. When I looked around for a replacement rack, I was thinking about trying that aftermarket new Fuji rack you are looking at. But given the fact that my original OEM steering rack lasted 25 years, I decided to spend the extra money for another new OEM Toyota rack thru McGeorge. I did not want to have to replace the steer rack again anytime soon. If Rock Auto or Summit sold that "Fuji" rack and they had some positive feedback, I probably would have bought one. Purchased from ebay, it may be genuine Fuji or just a cheap knockoff. At present, the Taco community simply does not know which. Just for the record, the new OEM rack I installed in my '97 Taco mud machine is as smooth as glass. WOW, what a difference it made on my steering system. Best of luck with whatever rack you decide to go with!

Thank you everyone for your feedback! I'll go with OEM. The rack is leaking and when I went to have the front end aligned, the technician said it has significant play in it. LBJs are also going to be replaced. Thanks again!

Good call. The pricey inner tie rods that come with the new OEM rack should help tighten your steering up. I could feel the difference in mine.
