Has anyone purchased this grill or something similar for there 1st Gen Tacoma?
How many molded pieces are there?
Is the grill separate from the surrounding shell?
What kind of quality can I expect?
Thank you, the help is very much so appreciated.

    4 run, 2 don't
Bought a new one for my Tacoma back when I had it.

    Spent what, $60 on ebay?

It's just 1 piece aside from the emblem, I mean you posted it yourself.

Or are you specifically trying to buy one with those weird raptor lights? All it'd be is a grill and wires for powering the lights.

Wow, really 60 bucks. That’s crazy, I haven’t seen anything for that price.

I’m torn on choosing between the factory style and a little different look. It wouldn’t need to be the Raptor style. I don’t know what would look best.

The reason I am asking if it is two pieces is because I have a custom paint color, and I would like to keep the theme throughout the vehicle. The easiest way to paint the custom gray on the surrounding shell with the black center piece would be if they were separate.

I bought one not long ago from another vendor for mine. It came as a 1 piece in matte black. The grille looked like it could be removed as I saw clips all around it but did not try to remove mine. The Raptor lights on mine clip in so you can choose not to use them. The letters screw on from the back. This price isn't bad. I got mine for slightly cheaper but last time I checked the site I bought from the price had gone up higher that this one. If you have more questions let me know. Kind of get the feeling all of these grilles are made by one manufacturer in China and then sold through different channels at different prices

Just mask it and paint it.

True, masking is always an option, I was looking for the easiest way to accomplish getting the sharpest lines.

Looking at those Amazon photos it's hard to tell exactly as you can only zoom so far in, but it appears like it might be similar to the OEM style grilles on the 05-11 2nd Gens where they are a two piece assembly. If you look on the backside of that grille assembly it appears the center grille and outer bezel pieces use a slot & tab style connection (like the aforementioned 2nd Gens). If that is indeed the case then the outer bezel's tabs that slide through the center grille's slots are melted/deformed to keep them secured together making it a "permanent" assembly. However, I've seen plenty of TW folks still disassemble it (on the 2nd Gens) although sometimes it's not pretty as they have to either cut the melted tabs, try to reheat/bend them w/o breaking, etc. and then once it's time to reassemble they are left working with butchered/shortened tabs.
