I tried this last night and was surprised a little. Better than I thought it would be. Same flavor profile as regular Knob Creek but very different emphasis on certain flavors. Definitely would buy again.

How does the HH BiB compare to EW BiB? Same company but not sure about mash bill. I like high corn mash bills.

Found a thing today. Not the craziest, taterist thing, but we don't see it around here often so I adopted one.

    Paging @Hook78

I've never had HH BiB, just Evan White, so I can't help you there.

Yeah unfortunately I’ve never had the EW BIB so I couldn’t say. But with all you people talking it up, I should probably try it.

I think the EW BiB is more oaky, if that’s a word? The HH is a more refined version in my opinion. But, the HH usually runs $55+ here so I’ve only bought it once…

I went for the EW SB. I might have gotten carried away. I've really been wanting to try the Campfire.

    Initial thoughts:

Campfire is a blend of rye whiskey, bourbon and peated scotch. It tastes like just that and it is fantastic!

HH BiB is like a much smoother (I know smooth isn't a flavor), fuller flavor version of EW BiB. That's high praise considering I love EW BiB. Delicious!

I recently went to Louisville and enjoyed some awesome bourbon.

One of which was some Blade and Bow 22 year, which is from the original Stitzel-Weller orphaned barrels when they shut down in the 90s.

I’ve heard great things about Nulu. I don’t think it’s available in Colorado though.

I was at my local liquor store and their Blanton’s store pick just dropped. I couldn’t bring myself to spend the $99 though. 32C009FD-850C-4C90-8E2C-586A0D8203DE.jpg

I probably would have. It’s only $100, there’s a lot worse bottles out there for close to that. Plus store picks are cool. Most of us who have been into bourbons for 10 or more years are stunned by these prices. But everything is so much more expensive these days Blantons for $100 almost seems like a bargain lol.. nothing is like it used to be that’s for sure.

Same. The only Blanton’s I’ve ever gotten was at the Buffalo Trace distillery. Factor in gas money and hotel stay…yeah I’d pay another $40/bottle to get it locally.

Having just bought 5 Blanton'seseseses 2 weeks ago for retail price (60 each) and drinking it again for the first time in a couple years, it just reconfirmed my belief that no one should pay over 60/bottle for it if they intend to *drink* the stuff.

    Collecting is whatever. By definition.

But as far as the actual bourbon, it's good. It's good, but It's not mind blowing, it's *definitely* not 3x retail price great, and it is easily smoked by stuff costing the same or less that is widely available and easy to get (WT Rare Breed, 4 Roses SiB, Russel's Reseve all pop immediately into mind).

Do you, but I'm not payin' over retail for the stuff.

If I wasn’t sitting on their store pick from last year, that I spent $99 on, I probably would have done it!

Thanks for the report on Campfire. I just picked up a half bottle but haven’t opened it yet. I’ve been looking forward to trying it for a while.

The bartender and tour guide said it would have been a Weller or Pappy if they didn’t sell off the naming rights. Apparently you don’t get the aging barrels if you buy the name.
