I'm not one to do thorough cleaning...but I try to wipe it down from time to time.

On the drive home from each wheeling trip, I go to a self-serve car wash to wash off all the mud and dirt from the truck. I'll open the hood and spray down the engine bay too. I use the low pressure rinse setting on engine components. I use the high pressure setting on the radiator through the grille and on the truck exterior.

Caked on mud will shorten the life of belts and pulleys, and make wrenching in the engine bay more difficult.

I had a truck of mine not start for a couple hours after an engine cleaning. Haven’t cleaned one since.

Bought an old LS430 recently. The previous owner didn't clean the engine bay, ever. I couldn't take seeing it so ugly, so I cleaned it up by hand. Never pressure wash an engine bay, asking for trouble.

0 fucks given about underhood cleanliness. Hell I haven't even used soap on the body of the truck in at least 5yrs, power wash the crap off and let it dry in the sun.

We don't have a garage and live in the desert. The only car wash she gets is what I call the hillbilly car wash; when it rains.

Don't care about the cleanliness under the hood unless mud got slung all up under there.

Something that irks me is when I go to look at a used car someone is selling and they washed the engine bay. Now I have no idea what leaks they're trying to hide. I prefer to see a dirty engine when I'm buying.

I haven’t cleaned under the hood unless it’s in an area I’ll be doing some work. For sure cleaning took place when doing a thorough valve cover job. Otherwise I kinda just let it flicker under there :anonymous:

Mechanically sound for sure. White glove test..? I won’t pass that but it could be much worse.

Ahhh,,, spray the hell out of it. Just don't do it when it's running and let it set for an hour or two before you start it.:anonymous:

    Depends how you define clean!

Mine engine bays are clean to my clean standards not polished and sparkling able to pass the white glove test.

If a major fluid failure happened the pressure washer gets used.
