Did some small stuff on the truck today. Scrubbed some minor rust spots off the sliders and coated those spots with Rustoleum.

It’s been a few weeks since I installed the seat jackers and I’ve decided I’m sure I love them so I took them out and applied the blue loctite that’s recommended; then reinstalled them. Just didn’t want to do that right off the bat in case I wound up not liking them.

I learned that blue loctite is basically like water in hot weather and I wound up spraying some of it on my center armrest :anonymous:

    Fortunately it wiped right off.

I’ve also been having intrusive thoughts of upgrading from my current 265/75/16 tires to 255/85/16. o_O Any feedback from people who have made that switch and do a lot of highway driving would be welcome.

Had some more rain and I noticed that the ARE cap is still leaking. It seems like now the only leaks are pretty small and isolated in the left and right corner of the bed, closest to the cap.

My solution: I noticed that the water was coming into the bed near the drain holes that were cut for my old Bakflip cover. So, I used silicon to seal off that area. Theoretically now the water that does come into the bed will be forced into those holes and my bed will stay dry. Only time will tell if my plan works.

    :fingerscrossed:

If you look closely at the photo you can see the streaks coming down the bed vertically where the water enters. Hopefully this should keep everything dry!

Yeah, they resealed it but they said they can’t guarantee it will be completely waterproof so I figured I would try to do a little extra myself.

They did that also, there’s a foam-like material that is in between the cap and the bed rails almost all the way around.

Got the Headstrong Offroad 1/2” shims to go under my Icon AAL, should raise the rear of the truck 1/2” to keep me from having that Carolina lean. These suckers are sturdy.

I also found this photo during my research of tire related things. Thought it was the most helpful thing ever…so here it shall live in my build thread for future reference:

Also, an update this silicon idea, it looks like it works pretty well. We just had a big rain storm and the silicon channeled all the water that leaked into the bed into the old Bakflip drains just like I hoped. The bed itself stayed totally dry.

Inflatable kayaks are nice but be careful because you can't see under water which there are some sharp object will pop your inflatable kayak such as tree, whatever it is in the water. These are good for lakes or creeks that have clear water which you can see through. Not good idea for dirty water that you can't see and your kayak may get damaged.

Instead of the inflatable kayaks, have you heard of oru kayaks? Website: orukayak.com

That you can fold it up and store it in the bed of your truck or backseat.

Ive never heard of them, that’s pretty cool! I actually already bought the inflatable kayaks but I only kayak in calm waters that’s usually pretty clear so it should be fine.

I understand... but you never know in other states which you go on a trip... that they have either clear or dirty water..

After much research and staring at various tire websites and my bank account, I think I’ve decided to keep the 265/75/16 Grabbers until I wear them out. Then I’ll make the switch to the 255/85/16’s. Most likely the Toyo Open Country MT’s.
