PHEV is a nice compromise. City and short range efficiency (and heck, you can be fuel independent with just solar), long range/towing with gas.

We just bought my wife a new SUV this month. If the hybrid had been in stock, it would’ve been an option for sure.

I think I’m gonna cancel my R1S order… After much thinking $80k is just too much for a car. Leaning towards new sequoia or a used LX570.

How much did it cost to wire a charging station at your house? Not sure if anyone raised this question and I don’t feel like reading through 1500 posts

Ummm, do these charging stations cost money? I’m not at all interested in electric but I’m just trying to get a better idea.
    Thanks

Yes they do charge but most newly bought EV's offer charging deals of some type. Toyota has free charging through EVgo for a year while others offer free 30 minute charging then pay after 30 minutes. As a daily driver to and from work that should be enough. Ideally charging at home is the cheapest way to charge and most states offer discounted rates if you inform your power company you have an EV and charge off peak hours.

Here's the list of charging deals per car Mfg.

My theory is that if you have issues adding and subtracting you shouldn't buy an EV.

Toyota pretty much showed what the EV pickup will look like in December.

Extension cord, I'm just doing L1 charging.

Typically it's whatever a new 240v line costs in your region, plus about 300 for a EVSE, for L2.

My Tesla wall charger that is capable of charging at up to 80 amps (and will work with Rivian with an adapter) cost me $800 to have installed by an electrician. The wall charger I got for free from Tesla from a friend using my referral code to buy a Model 3.

I was wondering if it was much different than installing a transfer switch for a generator, which my friend says is more costly since inflation and supply change problems started.

It's the same plug as an electric dryer. I helped my neighbor do his install. ABout $250 with double pole breaker, wire, conduit, and receptacle. He used his mobile charger. With a wall charger setup you won't need a receptacle.

I put 240v in my garage when I built the house. Mostly for a heater but the circuit is there if ever need it and it didn't cost any more than a 110v since I did it during construction.

I'm sure you'll see more of that in the future.
