f-150 convert needs purchase help

Thinking about purchasing my first Toyota, just left the dealer and I am trying to decide between two trucks (1) 09 access cab v6 auto 4x4 (2) leftover 08 PreRunner 2x4 crew cab v6 auto. Both trucks have identical equipment, only real difference is the 2x4 vrs 4x4.
I really wanted to go with the 4x4 but the 2x4 is 3000.00 less and that has me thinking, do I really need 4x4. So my question is how well will the 2x4 with limited slip and traction control handle travel in the snow. Not concerned with off road capability, just general travel in snowy weather, long up hill driveway and two hills that require a slow approach in my daily travels.
Been driving a 2x4 Ford F-150 5.4 with limited slip diff for 6 years and I have never had trouble with the Penna winters.
Any opinions on the bad weather capabilities of the 2x4

You live in snow country, get the 4x4 if you can swing it. Better to have it when you need it than to need it and its not there. Oh, and welcome to TW!

4x4. Helped far too many times not to have it.

Worst to worst it will just help increase the resale value of the vehicle. Just remember to use 4x4 at least once a month for 15kms.

 

The 4x4 has kept me from getting stuck in all of this Phoenix snow.

 

Agree go with the 4x4.

i understand saving that 3k though.

i'll say this...i have a 4x4 and i use it when it snows. i could probably manage with 2x4, but feel much more confident after i turn that little knob.

 

I have owned one 2 wheel drive in my life, i got it couse it was cheaper and the whole 5 years i owned it i wanted a 4x4. I dont always need it but when i do its there. Plus i have 2 little babys and i dont want to have them stranded

 

Consider resale. In the southern states 4X2's are more popular. In the northern/mid states and Canada, 4X4's are more popular. Try selling a 4X2 in the north. you won't find much buyers, and dealers will not pay much for trade in.

Try selling a 4X4 in the south, and it's the same thing.

 

this is to nocarsallowed: thats not always true were im from every one here drives 4x4s and wants them more than a 2x4, but we are a bunch of red neck hicks down here.

Being that the 2008 is almost considered a year old now by blue book standards you would probably recoup most of the 3000 dollars on the 09 if you ever decided to trade it in the future.

 

You have to go 4 wheel in Pennsylvania. Why leave anything to regret.

The pages are littered with northerners who regret not getting the 4 wheel over the 2 wheel. Don't be another one of them.
