I can’t believe I’m having to inform y’all of the fact that a clean engine bay optimizes horse power, just like my CAI:anonymous:jeezluizpapacheeseBC13AD0C-C66E-4357-ACD5-00BE2D8AE852.jpg

Yeah, but the missing nut for the engine cover negates all extra HP.
I’ve heard if you remove the engine cover, you get mega extra HP.
You’re only 1 nut away from having it removed. Maybe you can confirm this?

Unfortunately you’ve been misinformed, I’ve lost HP but not for the reason you listed.
The engine cover nuts are an integral part in the thermodynamic process (especially the one I’m missing as it sits closest to the engine), the little buggers soak up engine heat. My installation was done in vain :pout:

One can work on truck and not get dirty when engine bay is clean-ish. I don't really care what other people do; that's their problem/choice. I'm just here to make boost.

These should work great to dissipate heat.
You could even buy threaded rod and drill holes in the hood to make extra long heat sinks. :rofl:F2710170-5BE3-4708-AB45-37D4C0614DE2.jpg

Not sure how good it is for the engine, but I must admit I like a clean-looking motor and engine bay...but I have yet to clean mine. Even when I go thru the car wash it will run rough for a few cycles while the wash is shooting water down onto the hood...ROCK ON

I think the difference is clear. Those that shower once a week, don't clean their engine bay. Those that shower 1+ times a day keep their engine bay clean. @Rock Lobster is the odd one, only washes half his body, once a week.

Water on electrical connectors? Nope. Toyota has great water seals but they aren't infallible.

Shine spray? Nope. I've replaced coil packs soaked in them. It wrecks belts.

I rinse off engines, thats it.

Why clean it if you're going to go out and dirty it up again. unless of course you don't partake in that sort of thing.

@Rock Lobster -- Way to do a half-ass job on the engine bay cleaning! lol

Most of the dirt/dust particles in my Sport's engine bay come from daily driving and not off-roading. I've only had her 15 months so not too much build-up.

My wife's Elantra is covered in small particles of dirt/dust but otherwise, it's a clean engine bay...and it's 5+ years old. It helps that there is a plastic shield underneath that cover's the majority of the engine bay belly.
