Yeah, I’m with you there. I still enjoy listening to goat, and playing god was interesting and enjoyable on the nylon; but most all of the other pretty much blends together now. Still makes for good back ground noise while working, but no longer something my ears perk up to when it comes on.

All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!
My gfs father passed away and left us some extremely old acoustics. One Gibson from the 50’s and an Alvarez that looks amazing as well.
She also was given a deep red wine color LP standard from the 60s.

Her father used to play with some big names back in the 70s. Awesome player, just wish he was a little more awesome to his daughter.

So I bought the below rosewood.pickguard for my new Orangewood guitar that i have not glued down and I am unsure about it...

its beautiful and all BUT the part that goes towards
the sound hole is not perfectly circular but oval
and doesn't match up quite right to me.

Obviously its up to me but am I being to picky???
Is there a way to position it to make it look right that I'm missing??

I think in this case a picture is really worth a thousand words....

Tough call… it’s def a good looking pick guard and matches the aesthetics very well; and if it wasn’t my guitar and it wasn’t pointed out to me; I may have never even noticed… but, that being said, if it were my guitar, that would absolutely bug me.

It is supposedly MOP but who knows... I thought it was out of round but you may well be correct... this is for a GA size....

Yea you and I are apparently on the same page.. and though I want to stick it on there... I just can't.... I will find a better fitting one.... I do have some ivory MOP topped bridge pins on the way also....

I really like personalizing stuff tastfully so it looks stock.... I unsurprisingly do this with my taco too

EDIT: So i sized it up on my LXME HPL Martin travel guitar and Conquistadors was correct… it’s a tiny bit big for that but if I move it far enough away from the sound hole the circles are parallel or even or whatever…. Not sure I’ll put it on that but maybe.

If you guys have any Fulltone pedals, hold on to them! Mike Fuller is closing Fulltone. They are going to go through the roof in the aftermarket now.

Nice! What are your plans with it as far as hardware?

Makes me want to start another project.

Can you send it back and get one that will match your sound hole? There really isn't a lot you can do. It does look sweet though.

At this point it's better to just invest in gear than your retirement fund. They value of everything is just going up.

its crazy...check OCD's on reverb.... start at about 350 some are over 500. happened over night. The Pedal Dr. on YT posted about it on the 25th. He seemed really sad. I grabbed up one of the last (2) NIB Fulltone Wah's off of ebay, they are all now listed at used price nearing or exceeding 700. there is not a new Fulltone pedal to be had anywhere right now.
Just spoke to Sweetwater, they have a few more OCD's coming in. but preorder to get one. No more after that......

Definitely don't attach this one; you'll never be completely happy with it. Any chance you can reach out to the folks who made the pick guard you have there, and see if they make a different model to accomodate the larger radius soundhole? Include the photos you have here so they can see.

Not really but I will measure my guitars sound hole diameter and of.course check the specs on the next one.... kind of a shame as it was nicely done other than the incorrect diameter.

did they allow you to choose the specs or "model"? or did they sell it as the "correct" part for your specified model?
If they spec'd it out for you, then send that pic to them. If they are worth their salt, they should make it over for you correctly. It is most definitely the wrong radius for that sound hole. Don't do anything to compromise the guard you want to send back... M2C....

Yeah, it does look pretty sweet. Is it for some other model? Oval sound holes aren't very common, but they're out there.

It’s evidently for a smaller Taylor… that’s why it fits my mini Martin. Not really returnable… unfortunately… I could put it in the Martin but as it’s a travel guitar made mostly out of hHPL…putting rosewood on it doesn’t make sense but does look nice.

On a separate note I bought some of the SR pencil condenser mics (monoprice) to try some stereo recording for the acoustic….. I have a few large diaphragm condensers but am thinking the even inexpensive pencil condensers will get that brilliance shimmer thing…..if that doesn’t do it I think Rode makes a matched set for not to much….
I’ll be running them through a Focus Scarlett 2i2 into the IPad GB or the MacBook Air GB. Should be able to get some decent sound from that set up….
