Well I went and put in a new battery yesterday. While I was there the AutoZone guy hooked up a diagnosis box and it came back that my voltage regulator was tits up which means a whole new alternator.

Run truck with all loads on, disconnect negative battery cable while the truck is running. If it dies, alt is bad. If it stays running normally, alt is fine.

Dont run it more than 5 to 10 seconds disconnected. Easy way to check alt output.

Replaced my UCAs.... still have a clank in the front end. I have new lcas, ucas, sway bar end links, tie rod ends, new sway bar, new coils, and still a clank. Any suggestions? Replacing the ucas made it way better but it's still noticeable....

My ‘08 Tacoma has been running a little rough lately, well it does have 419,000 miles on it, so I decided to change the PCV valve and see if that would help. I bought an OEM part and looked online to see how it’s done so I jumped in. I’m old (72) but I still like to do what I can. It was a little bit of a challenge however I got it done. WOW! was I amazed. My truck ran great, much better than it ever has.

BTW, there is a threaded hole in the picture close to the PCV valve. Can someone tell me what is supposed to go there? TIA2C3AF014-E54F-4CCC-B881-D1342013507E.jpg

As noted by others check lower control arm cam bolt torque with wheels on the ground. Check your steering wheel shaft/joint. Make sure the steering rack doesn't move at the mount bushings with wheels on ground and wiggling steering wheel with someone watching or having a hand on the rack. Another misleading traveling clunk sound can come from a cracked or broken rear leaf in the leaf pack.

First up, was repairing the roof rack lights. I bench tested them on Thursday and they worked so I knew it was the harness. I pulled the wiring down this morning first thing and as soon as I brought the harness down from in between the cab and the topper, the issue was found:

Easy fix. Cleaned up the wiring a bit, too.

When the RTT is mounted, the cover hangs off the driver's side so having the light on the rear rack was pointless. So I relocated them:

    Really happy with that.

Next, I moved on to finally mounting the new rock lights. I've had these sitting around for 2 years. I used waterproof deutsh connectors for each light and each section of the harness. This means that if a light goes out, or a section of the harness goes out, only that light or section has to come out.

I only have 6 lights; two of the old style lights and 4 of the newer style ones. It was still light outside so it wasn't totally dark:

    Not terrible.

Finally got around to replacing my body mount bushings. The drivers side rear one had been clunking for a few weeks. From the pic you can see why; it was totally rusted away from the bracket. Went with the Energy Suspension kit; still have to do the front radiator mounts. Got all new bolts too. Makes a huge difference. Was a real pain getting the rears out; the bolts were rusted in the sleeves. Ended up using an air hammer to get them loose. Good excuse to get new tools.:D Thanks to folks here who posted the instructions.

It was an unforgettable day tbh. I was planning for 4 hours but it ended up being 8 hrs and a VERY remote trail. It was quite a trip to initiate them into wheeling. Prior to this, my oldest would throw up carsick even on curvy paved highway roads but I was careful with what he ate and let him distract himself with a tablet when needed. Either way it was an all day very very rough trail in the sun with no shade pretty much anywhere. They crushed it. I was low key miserable but they did great. So proud & there will be many many more trips to come.
