Feather weight? That’s not something you ever hear about EVs.

But as I showed you I can get a new EV for under $18k and it meets my range needs. You want to compare only certain gas to EV prices for some reason. The leaf get equivalent of 105 MPG gas car.

He makes things up and trolls these EV threads. That's all he does. He is mentally impaired in the things he makes up.

I don’t care if the small battery Leaf meets “your” needs. It doesn’t meet the range needs of most vehicle owners. You can’t compare that to a normal car unless it has the higher range battery. End of discussion.

So I should get an EV based on your criteria? Also, whats a 'normal' car?

The average American commute is between 30-40 miles daily depending on which source you look at. The base Leaf covers 3-5 times that distance. If I didn’t tow I could drive a Leaf for about 95% of my driving and never recharge anywhere other than my house.

It would meet my commuter needs (40 miles round trip), as it is rather silly that I commute in a Tacoma because it gets shitty gas mileage for what it is, but I have 3 vehicles…need another like I need another hole in my head.

Tried talking my wife into selling two of the vehicles, getting me a sensible commuter and she’ll drive the Taco for her 3 mile round trip commute, but she isn’t into it. She is like we can afford the gas! why do you want an eco box!? I dunno… be nice to spend less on energy, hell what do I know!? lol!

The average American also does more with their life than go to and from work.

I doesn’t make financial sense to spend more money on a commuter car than you will ever save on gas. If you’re doing it to save the world from exhaust gasses then go for it but don’t try to preach that it’s cheaper. That’s not directed at you personally just a general comment.

The average American drives 14,263 miles in a year. That's about 40miles a day. Well within range. So yes.. The range likely works for the average American.

Look... We all get it. They don't work for everyone. Same as a truck doesn't work for everyone or a sedan doesn't work for everyone. There are other factors as well to make decisions on.

Not sure what point you're trying to prove here.

Yep, I do a lot more than that but the majority of it is within the range of that base model. And like always - if the range and charging constraints don’t work for the intended purpose then DON’T BUY ONE. Pretty damn simple.

What about the days when they don’t go to work and want to go to the beach or skiing or anywhere else other than work. My original point was that it sucks that EVs are so much more expensive than comparable ICE vehicles. For some odd reason you EV bros want to argue that basic fact to death. It has nothing to do with miles per day or year or any other BS. An EV is more expensive to own/drive period.

So what is the average American supposed to do on the days that don’t fit within the range? Buy a second car, rent a car? It’s pretty stupid to buy a vehicle that only works for 80% of your needs.

I never argued that a comparable ICE is more expensive than an EV.

My point was that for the average American the mileage works. I was addressing that point that you made. There was no mention of price.

The days where they do something else they just go do it... It may just take a bit longer. Not sure what your point there is either. If you're skiing or going to the beach four states away it likely won't work fo you. I never argued that either.

The fact is I have two ICE vehicles that a bought in the last two years. A full EV doesn't work for me or my wife. So I don't disagree with you that they're not for everyone. But I don't blather on about it not working for the average person or that someone can't take it to the beach. I don't think anyone is unaware of the downsides and limitations.

Hmm…then DON’T BUY ONE. I don’t get why that is so hard to understand. I would like a sports car. I need to tow and haul shit so I don’t have a sports car.
