440 Stainless has a high carbon content  We've made some parts out of it before that had to be finished after heat treat.

"SS 440A, 440B and 440C stainless steel are AISI and ASTM standard high carbon high chromium martensitic stainless steel, SS440 has high strength, good hardness, corrosion resistance, wear resistance and high temperature dimensional stability."

I had a mechanic share a tip with me years ago, a tip that he learned when auto mechanic. Said he was always fighting to get rusty crusty suspension parts off and the old-timer also working there never seem to have a problem so he asked him. He said the trick was to give it a couple of uga-duga in the tighty direction first. I've found success with this method on occasion.
I think putting the fire to it is also very productive

I've tried that before. Yea, it always results in a snapped off bolt for me.

"Well shit, guess it ain't tight anymore..."

We had a nice little thunder shower roll through a few moments ago. Pretty much a perfect excuse for a nap:rofl:

Is there a circumstance that isn't a perfect excuse for a nap??????

Too hot. Nap 'til it cools down.

Too cold. Nap 'til it warms up.

Too wet. Nap 'til it dries off.

Too dry. Nap 'til it rains...

Cut new keyway, don’t worry about worn shaft. Check.

Corn and beans are finished to dry when it needed rain.

From the fields I have seen out and about. I hope I just saw a really dry area.

As long as the end user uses the new key way and not the old one!!

    Might be somewhat loose.
