I voted just the run, but I might be able to get the family out to camp....the flip side to that is I wouldn't have the Tacoma and I don't really want to take the Expedition.

We/y'all gonna try to get the spot by the river on the chestnut mountain side, or got a better spot?

@CowboyTaco how familiar are you with the Musterground/Chestnut Mountain area? I've been once, years ago and we actually just ended up camping out on of the dead end trails/off shoots of it, but that was like Jan 2020. I'm game for hitting as much of that up as we can. The plan would be to hit up Pretty Place in the AM and then head that way Saturday for some trail riding/lunch and then camping or for other to head back after.

I've been once and it was when the gate was open. Started at Musterground and finished at Chestnut Mountain in the parking lot where Rainbow Falls trail starts. I'm not a good "authority" on the area. Matic would have been my go-to for any questions about the trail.

Gates open Sept 15th so we should be good! Was hoping to find a more knowledgeable presence! But yea, he definitely would of been one to ask! If @EricL decides he is in, I think he's ran it quite a bit.

Maybe @truckbeans ? I think he's pretty familiar with some of the NC trails and I think I've seen that he's run it at least once; though I pretty much consider him to be more knowledgeable on the Western NC front.

Somebody give me a google pin drop of where we're meeting/camping. I'll be there.

I've ran both trails more times than I can remember and all of the offshoots that weren't gated at the time. The last time I was at Musterground it was to meet up with Matic, but he got waylaid and we ended up passing each other as I was on the way out. One thing I've never managed was to hit either trail when the NC/SC gate was open.

I'd really like to make this, but can't 100% commit yet.
