Hybrids definitely make sense right now. I get jealous when I drive my dad's Camry and it's getting 2L/100km vs my 16L/100km.

Gas used to be purchased from drug stores.... We know the current infrastructure but that too can change in a couple decades. Coupled with more efficient technology.

That doesn't change the fact that our appetite for all energies never ends. This is where the fact that we may have to make tough choices in the future comes in. We've had it pretty good for a long time. That ride may come to an end.

Do you wish you had a Max Pack or do you think the added weight would only make the air suspension ride worse?

    *sigh*

Infrastructure is sized for peak (say, usually mid afternoon) loads. Most EVs are charged overnight. Beyond that - they can always do time based or demand based pricing to get the power use down during peaks.

Generation capacity? Maybe, but that's a longer term shift.

No but we are experiencing an energy crisis here. Hell I just fueled up for $4.75/gal and last year at this time it was less but climbing. The point is you are seeing the flower instead of the meadow. France & the EU are in an energy crisis because they cannot get natural gas & oil they need. Here we are blowing through our SPR and doing everything to make the energy crisis here worse.
Not sure if you have noticed on your electric bill but my rates have increased this year. Saying this cannot happen here is asinine short sighted thinking considering it already is.

And now we get people purchasing gas in 55gal trash can liners in laundry baskets... who remembers those shenanigans? I agree that our appetites for energy never end, I just simply do not buy that we are seeing all the technology being used for our & the planets benefit. Though it definitely benefits someone... Are you a fan of Nicola Tesla & his work?

Obviously the average american needs a Rav4 Prime.

40+ miles electric so all the daily is on cheap electrons. ICE for the long distance trips. Only one car in the driveway.

I think this can be fixed via software. It has the ability to stiffen the ride so maybe it can do it halfway? I’ve had 500lbs in the bed and it felt the same.

Did you look at how much gas F150s went up?

For sure it's someone's benefit. At this point it's tough to see the winners and losers.

We can't use fossil fuels forever though. There's still an abundance but it is a mostly finite resource. Diversifying isn't a bad thing. EVs as we see them now aren't in their final phase. Much like the oil crisis ended gas guzzling engines and ICE were forced to change.

I've mentioned it here before but it's likely that EVs are just a stop-gap technology themselves. In a hundred years people may laugh at how primitive a turbo four cylinder or an electric car that can only drive a few hundred miles were.

I’m sure the power companies are licking their chops just waiting until they are the only option and can jack up prices. They’ll be able to screw us over just like the oil companies are doing now. Here in MA some towns have already banned fossil fuels in new construction and renovations. I’m all for reducing pollution but this is getting crazy.

    Gotta supplement Lighting production.

I think the price went up 5k in two months, it's probably higher now for 2023 MY, and I think dealers are throwing on another 3k market adjustment for in stock 22s. IDK if the price of aluminum is a factor or not.

Super Duties are 10k over, I have seen some listed as high as 20k over, and as low as 5k over.

New single cab 250 and 350 4x4 XLs are 60k. Everything I have seen are retail orders that the customer walked for what ever reason.

Years back during the last gas price hike I bought a used WRX as a commuter car. Back then when cars weren’t so expensive the math actually worked out and the fuel savings from not driving my Jeep paid for the WRX and it’s fuel. As much as I hate getting ripped off on gas it’s still just cheaper to buy it and keep driving my truck.

So which is it? There's not much interest in the Lighting or there's so much interest they have to bump the price of all the other models to cover Lightning production?

I knew you were just pulling numbers out of your ass.

“France, relies on nuclear power for around 70% of its electricity, meaning it is far less directly dependendent on Russian gas than neighbouring Germany.

However, the state-controlled electricity producer EDF (EDF.PA) is struggling to meet France's needs because of outages at its ageing power plants, increasing the strain on the rest of the energy sector.

Energy production at 29 of its 56 nuclear reactors has been halted by inspections and repairs.”

    https://www.reuters.com/business/en...ut-off-frances-industry-turns-oil-2022-07-10/

Further, 17% of the natural gas the France uses came from Russia. Last I checked, Europe has had some stuff going on in since February 24th that would impact energy prices as well

I have the large battery rated at 316miles epa. I’ve never gone from 100% to 0% but to 10% I range anywhere from 290 to 305 miles.

I’ve never tried conserve mode which disengages the rear motors but I can see 340 miles being possible.
