    I was just worried an 18” spring would be be too long for my coil overs. Since it’s 2” longer than my current ones with 3/4” of preload. Even ignoring preload, at full compression I’d think that extra 2” would cause issues. But as you said @EatSleepTacos runs them and at first glance they look like standard LT coil overs?

    Should be similar, they're the JDF spec LT shocks -- I can't imagine they're too much different than yours!

    They're the JD spec'd coilovers, which are a universal king 8" coilover with a couple of minor tweaks. Full extension is limited by 1/2", tuning per their specifications and different hose fittings.

    Hahah yea looked at literally all of those just before i posted, thanks still
    They all have stuff that's close but not quite. Ruff stuff has exactly the caps i want but no center hole. Barnes has pre-threaded weld washers that would be even better than what i had in mind but they only come 1.25 diameter. Might try those but i think it'll be just barely the wrong size for both the 1x.120 and 1.5x.095 i like to use (odd, i know). And i usually use a stainless nut; bare steel like that scares me with the winters here even with anti seize. Gonna see if a local place will cut my scraps

    Nice! Okay that’s good to know. I’ll give 10/10 a shot and see how it goes. The bypasses are pretty close already so maybe I’ll leave those alone and just do the coil overs.

    Even though my issue is likely valving I’m tempted to try some lighter/longer springs just for fun since that’s an easy swap.

    I know yours are super light but to you have extra weight like bumper/winch?

    Think I’ll gain anything from a lighter/longer coil too?

    I know the issue is valving for sure, but while it’s apart and springs are cheap, if I’d benefit at all I might as well.

    For the rear I might go down one on both. Someone mentioned theirs are one less on the rebound.

    I wouldn’t change the springs honestly. With the extra weight you have up front I think the springs will be fine.

    As for the rear valving I’d definitely change to 8’s on rebound and after that you will probably be good with the front changes. Should really balance the truck out

    Sometimes it's nice to just change a single variable so you can isolate the correction. If you change valving & spring rate will you be able to identify which had the greater effect?

    My front bumper+winch is ~140 lbs, and I also count my front skid as well which is another 60 lbs or so. I approximate 200 lbs of extra weight in the front. I shared a picture on the last page so you can get an idea of what my truck looks like.

    My doors are the only stock things left besides the headlights
    Springs.....if your within the acceptable preload range of the spring and able to attain the desired ride hieght....you have the correct Springrate for your truck.

    Springs are there to just hold the vehicle up.

    If that stuff checks out, leave the springs alone. The ONLY reason to go to a longer spring is if the current setup is having coil bind at bump.

    Sure a minor spring rate change has a correlation with damping rate but unless your pretty dialed in before you change rates you will not be able to tell the difference.

    Revalve the coilover to 10/10 and if the piston has freebleed holes make sure they're all open. And try that first.

    Springrate would be the last thing to burn money on

    What’s “acceptable preload range”? Is that just where you avoid block height of the spring or is that something else?

    I guess good news is there is no such thing as a 650 that’s 18” long. So I’d have to drop down to a 600 which might be too soft.

    Funny you say that. I constantly tell people to change one thing at a time for this exact reason. :facepalm:

    Accutune has 18”x650 eibach coils. That said I think that would be too high for you. I tried 18”x600 and even that was too high for me.

    I'll throw my horse in the race. I'm also running 18x500. So far loving it with no bumper and a little preload. Have it sitting high, but should settle down once I add a bumper.

    It sat way too high and it couldn’t sit lower because the preload collar was all the way up.
