My plan is to have a weld shop fix the current one, then weld the new one over the old one.

@rnish Seen that, it is not for oem bumpers. C4 Fabrications has a bracket for their bumpers that might fit but it effects the frame crumple zone.

for $30 you can make that out of 1/4” plate on your own and it’ll be 100x stronger.

I’m concerned that will push out my bumper cover too much that the lines are going to be misaligned. I’m gonna keep the front end looking stock.

that concern is not valid, the stock bumper has quite a bit of movement to it. It won’t be noticeable.

Not the bumper, the bumper fascia cover. Besides, I already ordered the parts, and I am not planning on putting anything heavy on it.

yes exactly, that plastic piece has some play. I put a 1” BL on mine and the stock front cover fit fine.

There used to be a number of manufacturers that supplied them and they were called front bumper reinforcement plates. They are pre-cut to the same size and come with larger grade 8 hardware.

I welded a few in the past for many friends that wanted to run an aftermarket bumper.

That coupled with some front reinforcement brackets will tie it all in nicely.

Thanks for this post. I have the same issue right now. Would you say $500 for both sides would be a fair price to have this done?

Haha okay. The two shops that quoted me said it’ll take them about 4 hours for both sides.

    Yes
actually sounds perfectly reasonable to me, custom cutting side frame overlay plates, bumper mount plates, boxing plate for core wall mounts & the front cross member and burning it all in would easily be 4 hours

I’m in Bismarck, ND. It’s definitely not in immediate need and I stumbled on it by accident.
