Currently at Overland Expo Mountain West, and it's a Taco party up in here! This is just from the parking spot. Been lots of fun talking with other owners and sharing tips, trucks, and war stories.

We're in Fort Collins until Sunday morning, then taking I-70 back toward the Western Slope. Hit us up if you're interested in a tune!

I don't get it. Are saying we cannot voice our opinions about which tunes we like/dislike and reasons behind it? If someone is causing a problem, why not go after them intead of treating everyone like you are our mother? Why is it permissible for other products? If this is the future of this forum, I may need find another one. I hope y'all get your moderator big boy pants on and deal with issues on an individual basis, like you signed up to do, instead of going on rants and punishing everyone.
I have still yet to see what set you off on this thread.

The reason this was posted was the constant trash talking between vendors and some of the fanboi’s that just couldn’t help themselves dipping into other threads and acting a fool. This was a general statement in all the tuning threads. If we just took an individual member basis ban, there wouldn’t be many tuners left on TW…

People want to be treated like adults but often do not offer the same courtesy in return. If this isn’t you and you can give a decent review without trash talking another vendor…have at it hoss. When I research a product and the developer talks more trash about the completion that their own product…it’s a real turnoff.

We came to this decision as a team. Trust me, @Daria didn’t eat some bad sushi, get rip roaring drunk and was set off in a fit of rage. She was just the messenger and message came from the Staff. Do you actually think these decisions are made by just one person?

As for finding another site…let me know. I’ll personally help you and be the first to say bye.

Just want to say, to date the TW mods have been fair and polite. People tend to pick a tune and be a dick about it. It’s human nature to pick a “team”.

Just want to spread the good word of the OTT tune and try to keep this thread, and other tune threads, positive. The stock tune is terrible, get a tune already. Preferably OTT as it’s well thought out, and validated on the street and on the dyno.

    Carry on…

I understand what you are saying, but honestly, I have seen nothing on this thread that would rise to that level. I just think blanket punishment is unfair to most of the members who seem to go by the rules. Maybe there is another thread that it is going on in, but no one wants to show us what the heck we are talking about here, so how are we supposed to know what caused it if it was indeed on this thread? I think that is a fair question. I made a review of my thoughts between two tunes and I believe I kept it nice, and my opinion. Maybe I am missing it, so lets see the culprit. delete the name if you need to but for heavens sake, let us know what caused all this.

There has only been two moderator actions in this thread. You are not the problem but we have to inform you there is a problem elsewhere. If we don’t warn everyone, it just isn’t fair in our opinion.

We have some very knowledgeable members/tuners on here that help out as much as possible and add great value to the site.

Two of the tuner threads will remain closed due to some serious problems and that is where the firefighting is. You know that eventually it will land in one of these clean threads. A smart crew will say nothing, select report, type a short message and we will put our big boy pants on and remedy the issue quickly. That I promise you.

Some people just wanna see the world burn and those are the ones that get axed. We have a thread full of them for your amusement.

Just wanted to follow up: Marty came back from his epic trip, had some awesome stories to share. He took my Taco for a ride and didn't really experience what I'd been complaining about. Regardless, he wiped the learned history, reflashed OTT 8 Mild/Medium (guess I was on Lite/Mild before), and...

The difference is literally night and day! I'm still on my 1st tank on this one and mpg hasn't improved yet, but driveability is perfect! So many other folks have documented how it performs, and all I can say is - huge +1. Now I want to drive the Taco instead of grudgingly needing to drive it; and it is fun to drive, smooth, powerful. Wow.

OTT8 is The Way. And Marty is awesome!

Thanks for the update. It's always nice to hear about solutions too. Each of these trucks seem to have a mind of their own. Yours sounds like it wasn't quite ready to be tamed yet. Glad you got it all worked out!

Awesome. Would like to hear if you found any MPG improvements with the truck being re-flashed

Interesting. So you went from Lite/Mild ECT to Mild/Medium ECT to address low speed driveability/bucking/throttle? I am having the same issues, low speed/off-idle/bucking/super-sensitive throttle HOWEVER I was flashed with Medium/Spicy ECT. It was recommended I get an ECU reset and then re-flashed with Lite/Mild ECT. Seems odd to have my fix be the settings that gave you similar issues.

So what are all the settings? Is it Lite-Mild-Medium-Spicy? And you can have any combination with Normal/ECT modes?

I have Mild/Medium and it can be a little quick on the draw when I accelerate.

Need to start using ECT for sure. lol

My solution is to avoid a harsh press and start smoothly...

Here is a question that may or may not have been asked already. I've been reading alot lately about the few brands of tunes out there. But haven't come across this explanation or question yet.

Probably a very dumb question but- when a tune is performed on a 3rd gen, or on any for that matter (lets keep it to this threads brand), is there risk of the part they rewrite or tune falling flat on its face down the road for any reason? Stalling, shut down, or whatever? Needing update. Etc.
Obviously I know zero about tunes and ecms etc etc, I'm curious what has been observed out there and asking the people who have actual experience over the years tunes have been around.
And if there isn't risk, could someone educate me on why what remains after a tune stays in place without issues.

    @JustDSM

    @ Or any TW bros.

I will definitely follow up. The mpg hit I took initially was a huge downer, really hoping it improves within a few tanks!

As far as all the options go, best to discuss that with your tuner. But yes: I had another tune, then flashed the Lite/Mild ECT over it. As you describe, low-speed driveability imho was terrible - the "low speed/off-idle/bucking/super-sensitive throttle" was driving me nuts (exact symptoms I had). Someone else posted a response to me earlier in this thread to wipe the learned history, that seems to be key here.

So Marty wiped the learned history and flashed OTT8 Mild/Medium ECT. It now drives extremely well at all speeds, just an amazing positive difference.

@acorn27 do you know approximately what date you were tuned? We've made some updates and one of the main changes made was to decrease the throttle sensitivity off idle. Our Mild and Medium throttle settings are quite mild in comparison to other throttle offerings. After reviewing some data, customer feedback/preference, and just our own general preference, we decided to tone things down specifically in the off-idle settings for all offerings. We did some very minor tweaks to the Medium-Spicy throttle settings too to make the difference between each setting a little more consistent.

If you (or anyone else) are having issues, PLEASE do reach out to us and let us know. While issues are not the norm, it is important to us that they get resolved even if they aren't related to any tuning done.

But back to your situation @acorn27.. What you are describing sounds similar to some of some of the feedback we had with the previous version of our tune where the initial off-idle settings were a bit aggressive for some. If that's the case, I do believe our newest version will get you fixed up. If that's not the case, send us an email (info@overlandtailor.com) and lets take a deep dive and figure out what's going on.

Our throttle offerings go from Lite, Mild, Medium, Spicy and Super Spicy. We've got a pretty wide range to accommodate the widest possible audience and their needs/wants. Some people love the lighter settings and others want it all. We can do any combination of throttle settings with ECT use. We can even give do a sports or tow/haul specific mode for revised shift scheduling when using ECT.

    Hope that helps!

We can and have done that. Happy to help if that's what you're looking for. Just email us, or reach out to one of our local authorized tuners and they'd be happy to set you up.
