How much longer are your extended U-bolts than the factory bolts? Are they like some of the others that are so ridiculously long that they need to be cut after installation?

Received mine - thank you! Would you recommend proactively installing any degree axle shims while installing the AAL?

 

Anyone have updates when they purchased their 3 leaf AAL 1+ years ago? Did you lose the original height or see significant sag?

In addition, anyone have experience do some light towing and needed to install airbags?

 

I've had mine for about a year and a half and they're still good with no sag what so ever. I don't tow anything, just standard loads and some occasional offroading/camping here in Utah.

No shell, and I use a good tent not a RTT.

 

Quick question for anybody that knows the answer, I’m curious to know what the net weight is on these with the stock overload removed. Also, any long term users have a squeak report to provide?

 

I installed headstrong's 3-leaf AAL with the TRD lift kit bilsteins (essentially 5100s). I didn't add the 1/2 inch shims, mainly because I didn't think about it haha. I didn't measure pre/post, but the long boi is sitting about level. MAYBE a slight rake in the back. Looks great with the falkens and rides great.

This 3-leaf combo is intriguing for my LB as I plan to do new shocks next spring regardless. I still have a little rake left (~0.5") with my fiberglass shell but would not mind adding a little more. Also curious how the 3-piece AAL would work versus the stock overload with respect to towing. Would it reduce payload capacity and/or sag worse? I pull 3K pretty frequently (and it sags of course).

 

Just ordered a set to help with the extra weight of a smartcap, gear and future rtt.

 

Any downsides to installing with overload still in? Also, I currently have some driver side lean. Was thinking of also adding these

Looks great and thanks for sharing these photos. I just ordered 5100's and plan to run the 4th perch (1.55") up front and was thinking about this pack for the rear. A simple 1.5" lift. Did you need a pinion correcting shim?

 

I just ordered that HeadStrong AAL 3 and will be installing this on my 2023 TRD Off Road along with Bilstein 5100's on the 4th perch. My truck is stock with no additional weight and these items should provide a 1.5" lift front and rear. I raised vehicle with jacks to simulate this lift and have determined that my pinion angle only changes 1 degree and so I didn't order any tapered shims.

I also have a ECGS bushing coming in and will swap that out while I'm there.

 

Anyone running these with a camper shell? I’m picking up an OVRLND camper soon which weighs approximately 300lb. I don’t plan on having camping gear in the truck all the time but will 1-2 times a month. Was considering these along with the timbren bumpstops/overload. Also curious if it’s possible to install with the factory overload spring as well. Any suggestions and help would be greatly appreciated.

 

I'm no expert but from what I do have the HS 3AAL. From what I've read expect that your camper shell will squat the rear of your truck about 1/2". HS recommends not using the OL but folks have left it on. I'd reach to to HS via Email or PM and get their input.

 

Thanks! I was thinking that with the timbren ses bump stop that it would replace the need for OL leaf. I do occasionally haul heavy loads (firewood) in the truck. I had the timbren on my old 2008 Nissan frontier and was happy with them.

 

I've read good things about the Timbren and others but I haven't had the need in adding them.

 

I have the progressive AAL and am very happy with it. The TRD lift has a block that repositions the cable bracket but this kit is nothing more than a block in the rear.

Is it safe to say that the E-brake cable bracket is in the correct place with the Headstrong progressive AAL?

 

I'm looking to level out my rear with these, I've almost (almost) currently got a "carolina squat" "lean" or "dog scratchin its ass on the carpet" look - which I 1000% hate with passion

I've read about these a bit but still a tick confused - do they replace the oem packs completely and still obtain the 1.5"?

I saw the bit about adding them to the oem's if I read right but I'm not looking to front rake, simply raise the back (with freshness to boot)

(Current stance, my '20 TRD OR fronts lifted the front a bit more than i expected - or my rear packs are shot)
