I had intended to clean her up and shoot some pics in the sunshine but honestly I was wore out after working in my garage on a 90 degree day with no AC. I was done. I brought the rear headrest inside and sat in the floor finishing them. I will post more pics when I get a chance. So far I’m pleased with the outcome.

Oh god, be careful whom you show those to. There are some sensitive types around here that don’t approve of die cast metal toys being displayed on the forum.

DR900X? I was looking at the Garmin Tandem and Garmin Mini 2 for front/rear, but they're not 4k.

But the heat will shut it off if you park out in the sun for long right? I haven't been able to record any parking mode video when it's sunny and 90+F degrees outside

The Garmin Tandem dash cam supposedly has a built in fan, but with AZ summer temps I'm not sure it would help significantly.

I used to run reflective windshield cover, but it was effectively cooking the camera and I stopped using it, I'm still getting overheating shut off during parking mode but not as often as before.

A functional blackvue should be able to resume recording during parking mode when the temperature drops to an acceptable range, but I'm not surprised if yours does not. I've encountered numerous bugs and quirks ranging from not recognizing preset battery voltage protection, to randomly losing LTE data connection.

I used to have a blackvue 4K + 1080p dual camera setup with the battery operating in parking mode in my G37. It would stop working when the outside temp was anything over 80° and would not start again until I plugged and unplugged. Eventually it failed all together and Blackvue sent me a warranty replacement. That one eventually failed as well and they didn’t warranty it the second time. I used Garmin single cams in my other cars in parking mode and but without a battery and those eventually failed as well. This was all when we lived in the East Bay Area in CA.

I’ve got a random Amazon 4K dual camera setup in the Tacoma now that IS NOT running in parking mode and it’s been working fine in the central California summer.

Long story short; a dash cam operating in parking mode will eventually stop recording/fail in the sun.

TRD emblems, tinted windows, OEM running boards, AVS vent shades, RMAS upgrade, LED lights in front and rear, interior LED lighting upgrade, LED lighting in bed, touch control dash mount for LED lighting, auxillary 12v and USB jacks in bed, replace all speakers with Infinity, custom mod with Bose tweeters, TRD Pro illumination mod...
Would tinting the top 4" of the windshield be enough to keep the UV rays from cooking the cameras?

Looks much better. I got the same crud on mine and this post of yours may be my tipping point to removing my moldy edge guards. You're right, it always looks like crap even after washing. Good post.
