Oof. My old hometown switched from ... I think Ford Focus's or something like that (post crown vic) to those. They were like, 50% down all the time because they were straight shite. They went back to the fords, I THINK they might be onto the next thing by now, I don't know - I left many moons ago.

If I were buying a retired police car, I'd look at state police vehicles over municipal. Most state police vehicles are assigned to individual troopers and are better cared for. Municipal vehicles generally are not, but in some cases specialized vehicles like canine are individually assigned.

The best cars to get are the ones assigned to high ranking officers, but those often are handed off to other agencies when replaced so you won't usually see them for sale.

Some number of cars aren't sold right away, but are used as "spares" when front line vehicles are down for maintenance or repair. You never want to buy a spare because NO ONE cares about them and they get beaten like rented mules.

My town seems to be switching to Chevy Tahoes from Explorers. Probably a matter of cost and availability. A town next door is switching to Dodge Durango "Pursuit" for cruisers.

Given past Dodge reliability I don't know how happy they will end up being.

I have gone to many vehicle and miscellaneous government auctions. There is the good and bad to it, usually high miles too but in theory they're more routinely maintained because the driver in theory doesn't have to be inconvenienced to get it done like we would. I have owned former Secret Service and DEA cars as well as having had at least one police vehicle in my house (pretty sure my dad had at least one that I can confirm). Though for a small price you can get a lot of car for the money.

That’s about what I paid for a pop up camper, king bed, queen bed, kitchen, fridge and a grill :D

Took my repaired Cannondale F4 MTB out for a shake down ride as I've finished the work. I mostly cleaned, but also repaired a few items. I also finally figured out a way to inflate the Headshok so the ride is pretty smooth.

I rode Borderland State Park in Easton/Sharon. It has a nice mix of smooth packed dirt, gravel, and some rough trails with rocks, roots, and a other stuff that can break a bike. Made a few minor adjustments, including getting the Velo Cateye computer to work. That was just a matter of hitting a piece of wood hard enough to get the contacts to make contact. :D

On the final leg on the main road I saw this,

The Doe looked up and glanced at me then went back to grazing. Either the deer have figured out that there is no hunting in the state park, or this is the dumbest deer on the planet.

They were not skittish at all.

How did you fit a king size bed in the bed of the truck? I've considered getting a pop up camper, but I don't want to lose the functionality of a truck bed.

The pop up had a king bed. I’m talking a tow behind pop up camper, not in bed.

I had the pop up with the F150. It did just fine with it hooked on, MPG's did drop a little bit but the 150 didn't struggle one bit with the pop up attached. It was a relatively heavy pop up also, it had a side slide in addition to the normal bed pull outs. Pop up is long gone now though, I've had 2 full profile campers since. Current trailer is a 24' box, weighing in between 6-7k lbs and the Stupid Duty doesn't struggle one bit with it, set the cruise control and go. Excess power is a good thing!

Have you looked for Rubicon takeoffs? Tire size would be the same, you could then off load the wheels to help off set cost.
