What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

Sign. Went in and tried to find my mysterious clank. Eneded up finding both of my steering rack boots "tore" off. Basically the failed zip tie job I did when I replaced the tie rod ends didn't work. Replace that with a hose clamp and went on my way.
I think up next for my truck is a coolant flush, detail and a HP tuners torque tune.

 

Check engine light after using some fuel system cleaner… that’ll be the last time I do that. Code read lean on cylinders 1&2 turned out the bank 2 upstream o2 sensor wasn’t reading. So I swapped out both upstream o2 sensors with OE direct fit denso, incase you guys didn’t know these little babies are expensive AF $240 each and a PITA to change! passenger gave me hell ended up cutting a cheapo 22m wrench in half and using a pry bar to get leverage to get it broke free and get the job done.

refreshed the rusty ruler and bottle opener on my Decked unit and installed their drawer locks.

 

The lower shock bushing.. where the bottom of the shock connects to the LCA. Both the 6112's and 5100's have this issue with wearing out and can cause a clunking noise. It did in mine. I had to press mine out and put new ones in after 3 years. It made a huge difference in my ride. Here is a quick YouTube video that someone else did on it.

How about your body bushings especially near the radiator? What type of shape are those in? Those have been known to cause the clunking issue.

 

Another thought I had was whether or not your swaybar was hitting your shock spring. Do you hear it all the time? Only when you turn? Maybe remove the swaybar for a small amount of time to see if that changes anything. Did the clunk only start when you put on the 6112's?

 

I took it into the stealership to get the alternator replaced. That repair is a little out of my league.

 

Is it 2-part bedliner?

I know mine is ripped on my 6112. Just don’t have a press

 

I picked up a 20 ton press at Harbor freight and used that. I kept mine but they do have a 90 day return policy so you can use it and then return it. And then really, all that you need is the 1 1/8" socket.

 

I don't think I know what that means. But I just used an aerosol can.

Tie rod ends, driver side CV, swapped TC uniballs and bushings, and used up my fuel points on a fill up!

Tomorrow it gets steering rack bushings, a new set of 6112s and an alignment.

 

Bedliner is just like paint. You can buy it in a rattle can or get the real stuff that you mix hardener in.
1K (rattle can) paint or bedliner is 1-part. You just spray it on and it dries.
2K (paint gun) paint or bedliner is 2-part. You mix in an additive/hardener to the paint and it cures. This is much more durable than 1k paint/bedliner. This is like what Line-X does when they professionally spray truck beds or other parts. But you can also get a 2k paint or bedliner in an aerosol can. These are more expensive than the 1k cans.
