I am in zone 7, might be too cold for me. I may try a pot. Or put it in the greenhouse, once it is built.

ive read that watermelon quality is improved by letting the vine remain undisturbed.
you should not move the vine around because the plant roots are under the vine or something to that effect.
ive moved vines around to weed. maybe one reason for poor yield.

I dunno about that. I’ve got a Malting Plant somewhere nearby at work & when that Rascal gets away sometimes it’s pretty bad.
The Wheat Board Lab down the street is always baking something. Other night it was Garlic Bread with kinda like a 1000 island smell. Pure Heaven combined with the Mornin Bacon smell.

Its true. Squash and pumpkins do it too. I was just mentioning this to my wife the other day as I was picking some of our squash and moving some vines around because I hadn't seen it so prevalent as I have with our Seminole pumpkins, seemed like every knuckle had a tendril, root, leaf and fruit body along the vine.

I have a store the sells "As seen on TV" products. She told me, most are gimmicks but some are good. Most of the good products got bought by large companies.

    Sorry about your wife!

The grass around the vine was getting too high. I have dead grass area where the vine/watermelon was. I didn't move it around much.

The neighbor got their kick out of me moving the vine around to cut the grass then move it back to where it was.

What is your guys opinion on used coffe grounds spread over the lawn? Heard it’s supposed to be rich in nitrogen. But I’m curious if I just spread it and leave it? Or do I have to water the lawn right after?

Garden? Sure! Repels rodents and is good for garden. Yard? Not really doing much. Mulching your clippings or shredding Fall leaves will do more to add nutrients into the soil.

Thank goodness for the okra cause the rest of the garden was a complete bust. I'll probably stop pickling after 12 pints and just do chips with the rest.
