i have used them in the past, even though it is a Toyota extended warranty they have to get "approval" from the Toyota gods.

I know this post is old but the info is timely. I worked in the Service Industry for over 35 years and I cannot recommend any of the extended warranties, and certainly not any sort of maintenance package. Find a good oil change place, keep your eye on them, and spend 30 minutes there every 10k instead of having to make an appointment at the dealerships convenience and spending 2+ hours (if you are lucky) there. It doesn’t matter when you buy the extended warranty, it started the day you bought your truck, and there is NO such thing as bumper to bumper. I’ve been driving a Toyota forever and have a dependable technician to go to if, and that’s a big IF anything happens. They wouldn’t sell these things if it wasn’t to their advantage, so it makes sense that it is to your advantage to not buy it. Stick half that money in the bank and if you need it for a repair (in 7 or 8 years) you have a great head start. Go on vacation with it if you don’t.

Extended warranty buyer here. But NOT at the selling dealership and ONLY from one of the discounters. There are 2 discounting dealerships out there I recall.
Easy to cancel if you don't use it (I have done this before).

Yes they sell things to their advantage but doesn't your car insurance carrier sell to their advantage too? Ok to not buy it if you want to take the risk.

Whatever you decide, buy it at another discounted Toyota dealer at a deeply discounted price. If you do decide to cancel it won't have anything to do with your original contract or payments.

There are many stories of folks who overpaid for them and never used them, and folks who got a deal and never used them, and folks who got them and used them. I have used them before and was happy I had them. You just need to decide if you want to assume the risk or transfer it to someone else. But just don't over pay-I think we all can agree on that.

About what I paid for Toyota zero deductible 7yr/125k. Bought through an out of state dealer as suggested in another thread.

Keep in mind that if you buy in a state that deals with a distributor like SE Toyota Distributors, you cannot get a Toyota factory extended warranty (or use TFS at all for that matter). In the SE Toyota Distributors area you will be getting a J&M warranty, which is their warranty subsidiary. They will also be the ones that cover your CPO used vehicle. Fortunately they have a fairly decent reputation. Not sure what Gulf States or others do.

Just got my 2022 SR5 and as I financed it for 5 years I did the 10 year / 100,000 mile one. That and Gap insurance.
Electronic stuff is spendy and the touch screen alone costs more than I want to shell out. Piece of mind is priceless.

Welcome to TW and congrats on the new ride. :) Two words of warning. 1) When you start getting all kinds of unsolicited opinions telling you what a bad move you made getting the warranty, GAP, and how financial doom will surely follow because you financed your truck, ignore them. The only opinion that matters when it comes to your truck and your finances is yours. 2) If you let us, we will show you ways to spend money on your truck that you never even dreamed of for things you never knew you needed. Guard your wallet. :spending:

I hear you. I am active on several forums . I traded a BMW X5 diesel toward this one. Got tired of putting kayaks up on the roof and trying to fit my mountain bike in the back. Love this Taco

Is Jennifer (who is now at a Lexus dealership) still the best or are there others?

Greenfield Toyota also sells discounted factory warranties. When I checked, their pricing was identical to Jennifer's prices.
You can find them here.... http://www.fd-warranty.com/

Jennifer is still selling them. Contacted her to extend my '20 before the 3/36 runs out in December. Prices are still waaaay better then they quote you when you're buying the vehicle. I haven't had any issues but if any of the electronics go in the 5 years I'm going to extend it, it will pay the $700 easily. Worth it to me to not have to worry about that. One of the many things this site saved me money on.

Thanks for the info. Got a price quote from Troy and you're right, his pricing is very similar. He also responds right away.

Apparently you can get one from Jennifer or another out of state dealer. From what they told me you can also buy the TFS product from a Lexus dealer, since they are not bound to JM&A warranty like the Toyota dealers are. TFS just can't finance it for you, you have to pay in full up front. It was good news to find out I can get the factory product instead of SE Toyota Distributor's captive company.

I didn't get a quote from Jennifer so I can only go by what's been posted in threads for her pricing. Troy from Greenfield Toyota quoted me $1,360 for a 10yr/100k Extra Care Platinum plan with a $0 deductible. I only drive about 7,500 miles a year so that one would work for me.

Are they charging sales tax on these with mass residents? I can't remember if a warranty is taxable......
