Damn, still out 1200 bucks for a bedrack. Has anyone heard anything back from the refunds email address yet?

Me too, sliders in my case, and still nothing. Only thing close to a reply was 3 months ago when he said he would have everyone refunded in the next three days.

    So much for that.

The one who dies with the most stuff wins.
Louder for those in the back, AGAIN:

Call your credit card companies. If you haven't gotten your money back by now it's a fool's errand to think and hope and assume that you will at some future date. The CC is your only recourse aside from small claims court which is an entirely different can of worms compared to one simple phone call.

Yeah never would have thought of that… the only reason I posted that is because some people in this thread keep talking about how others are “whining” or “trolling” and that they are just “orders that slipped through the accounting cracks” or “Joe was a good guy” or “idk why your so upset about this and that. I read through this whole entire thread last night and it kind of pissed me off. Because bottom line I was 100% ripped off and I know I’m not the only one and STILL there are people defending this guy.

    Here’s how it happened.
Sometime in the beginning of the year, I believe actually it was on New Years 2021. Mobtowns instagram put out a post about how they won’t be doing anything on backorder anymore. And if it was available to purchase then it was in stock and ready to ship. On 6/20/21 I was on Mobtowns website and noticed that the softopper compatible bedrack was available to buy. I had been saving up the money for it and was ready to purchase it so I did. I kind of assumed that their previous statement about their product availability was still a thing, but also wasn’t sure because I noticed after I ordered it was a backorder. I shrugged it off and said whatever. I had heard a lot of positive stuff about Mobtown and their products so I’m willing to wait for it to be fabbed up if that’s the case. Fast forward to August 12th. I get a call for a no notice deployment. (Im not mentioning this for sympathy, it’s just pertinent to the timeline and situation) The first week in September I get to a location with internet access and it dawns on me that I might be getting the bedrack delivered soon. My girlfriend was home alone and the order was placed with my info. If this bedrack was to be shipped freight which I assumed, they would be trying to call me to set up delivery and I wouldn’t get the call. I had internet by means of a computer but not a cellphone. I looked back through my emails to check the day I placed the order. Then I went to to the website to see if there was any update on fabrication timelines. The website wouldn’t come up. Okay I’ll check instagram to see if there is any mention of the website being down. No instagram page, ok tacomaworld? No one on tacomaworld had heard back from them in weeks. Well at that point I realized I got got. A day or two later Mobtown made this thread about how they were shutdown… the rest you know. So I filed a claim through Navy Federal Credit Union and I just got confirmation that the claim was closed out and “I won”. So while it did turn out okay for me in the end, I’m sure it didn’t for quite a few other people. And not just the ones who have been vocal here, I’m sure that there are more than the small sample of people on tacomaworld.

Which brings me to my point. I’m not a betting man, but if I was I’d say Mobtown knew this was coming right around the time they released that post about no more backorders. Selling a business doesn’t happen very quickly. But they still kept taking new orders for months. They could have stopped, finished the old orders and closed shop without screwing people over. Also and this is speculation but they took my order without any type of shipping quote. Should have been a red flag considering the bedrack is a big item that weighs over 100 lbs so probably had to ship freight. So it seems as if there never was any intent to ship me anything. You guys keep talking about pelfreybilt, and I don’t see how this is any different. The only difference is that this guy made a thread on tacomaworld?

thanks for coming to my Ted talk

The reason I wrote this whole post out is because I came across a few different threads about people buying something from someone on the forum and then the person not keeping up their end of the bargain. Followed by pages of people trying to help get in contact with the person (including mods). Whereas here it’s nothing but silence or people accusing other people of whining. Seems ironic.

I’m curious about the answer to this question too. I stumbled on this thread, checking prices and lead times of the remaining two skid plates of theirs I needed to complete my truck.

Sucks they sold off to seemingly be gotten rid of by competition, and I completely feel for those screwed when something like this happens. Hard to fault anyone except the business-purchaser, if Mobtown is truly sold when this was posted originally, Joe has no legal responsibility to help, and might actually incur liability by intervening if he’s no longer employed by the company. To add to your question @kgarrett11 , does anyone know who purchased Mobtown?

I should have been more clear. It wasn’t a statement, more of a speculation (read “seemingly”). All this based on the limited facts we do have, and that I cannot (correct me if I’m not finding it) find their IP elsewhere under another company. That alone indicates someone saw them as a threat, and purchased them to eliminate competition. Pretty basic business practice.

As far as I know everyone got their money back (doesn’t sound like there were a lot of orders in the end as people we being told). If you think this is like Pelfrey then you know nothing of the pelfrey situation.

I never got a single response from them. I was able to rectify the situation through my bank. But again never a word from the company.

Can anyone tell me who purchased Mobtown Offroad? Searching Delaware public records, I saw a 2021 relief grant for $38,692.35 to Mobtown Offroad LLC.
