These days, retirement means watching the tip jar a little closer. It’s like the late 60’s all over again. I remember Grandad saying, they can cook us, but they can’t eat us, we’re too tough.

It is a weird feeling, almost like you are breaking some rule, don't worry you will adjust. ;)
The first month my blood pressure went down about 20 points on average.

:pccoffee: Morning Porch Pals & Gal! Well, ya' can't do one thing. Always more. I got 1 1/4" fittings out of the 1 1/2" bin for the darn waste line. While it was partly apart anyway, I redid the teflon tape to fix a couple tiny drips, and another line broke. So, fixed that instead. Have to fix the original fix today. Right before 6, a big storm was headed right at us. Put down the umbrellas in the wind. Two potted plants blew over. And.....nothing. Hoping for good rain today, because it's the best shot.
Here's a blast. The 2 wrong pieces cost me $6.99 each. I needed 2 similar 45* for the other fix. Had 2, with price stickers that dated to the early 2000's. $1.79, and $1.99! Kinda' explains why I don't have so many pieces lying around....
Congrats @knayrb ! Spoiling grand kids is a great way to kick it off!
++ on everyone getting better! ++

I have found this to be true as well. Vendor makes a pricing error then backs out of the sale. You go right back in, and the same item is available but at a higher cost. Shady business practices at best.

Let us know how that worked for you. I usually use a diamond blade on my angle grinder. The extra cut depth would be welcomed.

Drove back from Michigan yesterday. The infrastructure bill passed by the 117th Congress is in full swing. Maryland, PA, Ohio, and Michigan are all working on every interstate bridge they can. All states except Michigan seem to be doing a great job controlling the traffic flow. Michigan seems to love to bring four lanes of traffic down to a single lane for the motorist enjoyment. WAZE is your friend.

Michigan was restful but it is nice to be home.

Do any of you know the frontal area of the late model Tacoma? My guess is close to 37 sq ft (6.25 wide by a little under 6 ft). My arm span is about 6'6 hence my odd guessing.

I'm considering building a cargo trailer as a mini camper to haul my trike (recumbent three-wheel), and the velomobile (carbon fiber wrapped recumbent) and make it a mini camper. Fold down bunk over the velomobile for sleeping. Small cassette toilet, and even a small shower.

A 7x14 trailer would be perfect, but having a 6x12 is lighter and has a little less wind resistance. Seven feet wide would give me more interior space. Plan on 2" insulation on the floor and 1" walls and ceiling so I can run heat/AC.

I miss having my big Ford Transit for camping, but it was too big/bulky for forest roads. Hence drop a trailer as "base camp" and take the taco for exploring. It was about 6' wide interior, 6'6" tall interior. Insulated the roof and walls, but not the floor, and was fine in 32F weather (cold feet once out of bed).

I spotted this on a youtube channel: An interesting Airconditioning solution:

I drool over those Ford Transits. Would have been so great to have one during my working years, now not so much.
I never had a camp trailer, but always thought that if I did, it would be a pop up. No wind resistance, good visibility. Think Lucy and Desi Long Long Trailer for fun on the road.

On heat and air, do they make something like a Mini Split for residential that is intended for vehicles? Those things pull heat from outside to inside even if it's freezing cold outside, then you can reverse the valves for summer cooling.

I watched a youtube video which showed how a larger wheel makes the cutting go easier. I guess that's why the gas stone cutters have those huge blades.

The circular saw blade worked very well at first but my last few cuts have been a real challenge. It may be the saw I'm using; I had a high speed, high torque saw my neighbor gave me but it quit working so I went back to my ancient Skil saw, which is a pretty big step down. It could also be that the blade is done. I have to do some googling to learn how to tell when they're done. I fixed the high speed saw today after I gave up working outside in the sweltering heat, so I am going to run the blade in it tomorrow on a test cut. If it still sucks I guess it's time for a new blade.

I just use masonry blades in my circ saw - it's death by a thousand cuts for yard brick stones. And they are gone if more than 1/2" is off the edge, even though they look the same to me.

THX Dave. I may try the circular saw blade in the future. The only problem with the angle grinder approach is it is usually not a cut all the way through. Then I use a masonry chisel with some sucess. If I am doing paver work, I go to HD and rent a wet saw.

Good morning, all. Nice to be back home even though the heat was hot yesterday. I used a birthday gift to myself, diamond hatched top shelf toy the EX8, to cook a spatchcocked chicken. Came out great. I think I like the extra wide 14 in shelf for elevated cooking surface. Allows for a drip pan on the bottom rack and plenty of room for the heat to cook the meat from below.

Try running a water hose at a trickle on the blade / cut area as you go. I used to work in a stone fabrication shop. I use an old worm drive Skil saw and with a bit of water cooling the diamond blade it will even cut granite.
    Just a suggestion.

Pretty sure the infrastructure funds haven’t even been released yet, funding is over the next 5 years. A number of projects have been awarded but I suspect other funding for what you’re seeing now.
