Is anyone running Steelies on a 3rd gen? I found a set close by (I hate my sport wheels) and for some reason I am really intrigued in putting them on.

Wanted to see if anyone was running them currently and get some pictures

Only aesthetic mods so far Leer 180 cap & Clazzio covers on order.
I'm not not currently running them but did pick up a set for my Winter tires. They've been paint flat black, jazzed up the center hub caps a bit, and will be transferring my snows to them this Fall. I had to temporarily mount one on my Taco to understand how the 3rd gen center caps are held on. Seems that Toyota redesigned the center caps so that they don't just attach to the wheels alone - the wheels must be mounted in order to fasten the center caps. Kinda stupid in my opinion.

Toyota will always Toyota! haha. I will probably roll w/o center caps

Mostly electrical shit that nobody cares about.
I looked into steelies when I bought my winter tires set! Yep ^ the thread above is the go-to for inspiration.

I don't remember the details but I ended up going with a cheap set of SR rims instead. The reasoning was:
    a) I believe I found the SR alloys for cheaper than new steelies at the time.
    b) Steelies still weighed more than SR alloys. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong.
    c) SR rims allowed me to use the same set of lug nuts. Yeah you can use the same nuts with the spare wheel in a pinch, but it mars the conical portion of the nuts and the captive washers rattle in the wind.

I just bought a 22 SR yesterday and of course the gray factory steel wheels... dealer would have upgraded the tires/wheels for 2300.00 but no... anyway, would like to at least paint them (or dare I say...plastidip?) them black.

These are sweet for the same look but steep in price.

    If you prefer 17s, I use a 4Runner steelie as a spare.

If I didn't have the caps I'd probably just put a good coat of flat black paint on the hubs and call it a day.
