2019, needs head work or replacement

That may not even be the real mileage. Been reading how there are ways to alter the mileage even on these new vehicles. I've heard some manufactures may have a backup stored in the ecu that will tell the exact reading.

 

If this is the case then there is a fun lawsuit to ensue between buyer, CarMax and Toyota as to who will pay for the repairs, and how who will be compensated for the fraud. AG will like to get involved too.

I'm also curious as to who is footing the repair bill as it is at the dealership. CarMax has a 12,000 mile 12 month warranty for all their cars. I guess they only do a 90 day/4000 mile warranty now.

 

I would consider selling it as well. It will likely come back in short order. I'd let the next person deal with possibly needing an engine rebuilt by a dealer.

While code P11EC has been associated with Gen3 valve train issues, engine mechanical issues are not the only cause/trigger. If the code comes back (which is very likely), I would have Toyota determine the cause. If you like the truck otherwise, IMO, have the work done to fix it. What is the financial hit if you sell it and have to rebuy? At very least you are going to pay taxes 2x.

 

Why is CarMax being brought into this at all? They sold you a truck a year ago that is just now having an issue. This is between you and Toyota...

Let Toyota replace the head and ask nicely for an extended warranty. After that forget about it and move on with your life.

 

That's not how vehicle taxes work in most states, and by most I mean 44 of them.
